Megan | 1607 comments Okay I've just finished Clockwork Angels, I was determined to finish that before my boyfriend got in. It was such a good book. I totally recommend that and Mortal instruments if you guys want another idea for a read.

Current goals are now:
Read a book where the kindle version is 500 or more pages
Read a book with a U.S. State in the title
Read a book where the audio version is narrated by a female
Read a book with parallel worlds
Read a book written by an author who uses 3 names

Rebecca I am not sure I would count this as a Parallell World as it is Earth and Mars rather than alternate reality but I may be wrong.

Grace (Calcat) | 665 comments I have several books on the go at the minute, reading Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell I am finding it a bit boring so I am also reading Pretty Girls and a couple of others.

message 262: by megan (last edited Nov 11, 2015 12:15PM) (new)

megan | 1492 comments I am beginning Ten Thousand Skies Above You. It's the sequel to A Thousand Pieces of You that we read for the YA group read last month. It's about jumping between parallel universes, so that goal is covered.

message 263: by [deleted user] (new)

I am reading Written in the Stars by Aisha Saeed .

message 264: by Audrey Jane (new)

Audrey Jane | 1815 comments Almost finished with my current book. Next I will be reading Shifting Shadows: Stories from the World of Mercy Thompson.

Grace wrote: "I have several books on the go at the minute, reading Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell I am finding it a bit boring so I am also reading Pretty Girls and a couple of others."

Concerning Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, I understand :) I've tried to read it multiple times, in the end I picked up the audiobook. It didn't help, I fell asleep every time. After one year I'm still around page 300. I think the story is good and want to know more but the pacing is extremely slow.

Megan | 1607 comments I've not heard of these books, are they BOM? I was considering pretty girls but I'm not sure if its a bit out there for me...

Anybody got any ideas regarding the book with an author with 3 names? Does this mean they use 3 different names to write under like Sophie Kinsella or are we talking like an author that uses their middle name say? I assumed it was the pseudonym and just tried to google like frantically trying to find someone. But i think i was being stupid and its someone that has a name like sarah jane smith. I am sleep deprived. That is my excuse i am sticking to it.

It's supposed to be with middle name, like Susan Elizabeth Phillips
There are different goals with pseudonyms

message 269: by TheBookishFairy (new)

TheBookishFairy (Lauren) I've just finished Rivers of London and thoroughly enjoyed it (I will add it to the books read thread now!). I'm planning on reading 'Fairest' by Marissa Meyer next which unfortunately doesn't match any of the goals at the moment.

Are you like me? Waiting for the library to get Winter?
I need to read Fairest.

message 271: by TheBookishFairy (new)

TheBookishFairy (Lauren) I actually now have a copy of Winter - it arrived in work yesterday so I'm going to get Fairest read ASAP and then make a start on Winter. It is HUGE in comparison to the others!

message 272: by [deleted user] (new)

At 5ish CST, I'll update the point counter.

message 273: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments I finished Angelfall which works for the audio version narrated by a female goal. I'll add it to my other post now.

I think it is names like Karen Joy Fowler or Louisa May Alcott. I have a few possibilities I can read.

I am enjoying Pretty Girls so far. I signed up to do the DQs and I have them ready as I have the first chapters.

Using your book The Martian as an example. You go to the book's page, on the right side it says Genres. Click this and it gives you the first page of shelf listings for the book. You are looking for a shelf named "tbr" somewhere on that first page. The Martian doesn't have it but you just check other books in the same way.

Just looked at some of my books I've already read for this challenge but haven't assigned a goal and Fangirl has TBR in the Genre first page :) So I guess we can use that for that goal then... :-)

Guidelines for Posting Questions on Tower Teams IV

Before posting Any Question regarding the Challenge, Please do the following:

1. Read the RULES
2. Read the Goals FAQ We keep the first posts regularly updated with questions and answers

Still have questions?

FOLLOW THE HIERARCHY
The communication chain is:

Member --> Team Leader --> Mentor --> All Mods

What does this mean?

It means that if you make a question that is on the rules or Goal FAQs you may get re-directed to those posts.

It also means that members cannot go over their team captains/co-captains (team leader for short) directly to the mods.

We over 300 players, and so our captains and co-captains help team members by:
- Answering members questions
- Make the bridge between members and mods
- Also, there are extra threads for taking care of team issues, goal doubts, and general questions on the captains group. So they have access to a lot more info than the members.

But my team captain is a mod and she said she needed to check with the others

Well, yes.

Mods are like mom and dad. If one of them makes a rule about an issue, the others don't say otherwise. We respect each other and don't step into each others toes. So. If something was said before, it will be checked if memory fails.

Also, mods are like doctors. Sometimes they need a second opinion before taking a decision.

Mods also "hire" external consultants. Some of the goals were suggested by members, so we need to check what was their original idea before making a ruling.

Mods are humans too. Meaning we make mistakes. But, we assume them, and try to fix it as quickly and painless as possible. Also, we have real lives and real live issues too. This is a very loved hobby, but just that. A hobby. Unfortunately we don't get paid for all this volunteer work! ;).

But my team is too chatty and info gets lost
Ask your team leaders to put it on a visible place. You can also PM your team leaders.

I ask a question and my team captain only answers it when I'm sleeping
Please remember that there are different time zones, and people have demanding schedules too. Relax. This is supposed to be fun. Not stressful. Is a hobby.

I don't like my team or my captains
Is there a particular reason? Do you wanted a chattier team? Or are you not into chatting at all? We try to pair teams taking in account their preferences, but sometimes it doesn't work well. If you prefer quiet, You can focus on reading and just check in to post your books. If you prefer a chatty one, you can always try to make the team to chat.

If you think your team captains are not doing their job, compile a list of things - and this is not book or personal taste - with objective points and PM your mod mentor.

If you have issues with your mod mentor.. then compile those, and PM the mod account. We'll work it out.

I think 'Fairest' is an adjective? (Please tell me if I am wrong because I always get so confused!) but if it is, then I can use that for the goal when I am finished :)

message 283: by megan (last edited Nov 12, 2015 07:26AM) (new)

megan | 1492 comments Adjectives are the ones that modify nouns. Fairest is technically an adjective, but can be a proper noun. I don't think it matters in this case.
