Books I have read

Stormlight archive, Mistborn, Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, currently reading ASOIAF,Dune, Star Wars books, Hunger Games, 1984, Ferinhiet 451, and many more. Any suggustions?

I don't see any Piers Anthony on your Read shelf, so I recommend either the Apprentice Adept series (https://www.goodreads.com/series/4049...) or the Mode series (https://www.goodreads.com/series/4049...). Both are more serious than his Xanth novels (which some people don't like because of his extensive use of puns).

You may also like his Incarnations of Immortality series (https://www.goodreads.com/series/4359...). I particularly liked the first two books in the series, but my attention started to wander with the third.

You can give Miles Cameron's "Traitor Son Cycle" a try. The first one is The Red Knight. It's Arthurian with some lovely magical twists, and the battles will rattle your teeth and make you duck for cover!

If you liked Conan, you might appreciate the anti-Conan, Elric of Melniboné, Stormbringer, Elric: Tales of the White Wolf, The Sailor on the Seas of Fate.

I've always thought Macroscope was one of Piers Anthony most overlooked novels. I also liked his Battle Circle trilogy - the first 2 books were excellent. The third sucked, though.

I'll second Bobby's recommendation, but try to get several books published together. As originally published, they're very short & end on cliff hangers. If you like Elric, you'll probably really like the Corum & Hawkmoon books who are 2 other faces of the Eternal Champion & show up in some of the Elric stories.

I'll add E.E. Knight's Vampire Earth series. It's an apocalyptic sf fantasy. He also has a dragon series, too.

Did you not like David Eddings? I see you read The Diamond Throne, but nothing else? The Elenium: The Diamond Throne / The Ruby Knight / The Sapphire Rose was my favorite, but there is also the Belgariad and Mallorean series which were quite good. There's more, but those are the ones I've read. I think there are 6 in all in each.

There's lots of volumes, but do not read them too fast! Pace yourself, otherwise you'll zoom through them in a couple days and then have withdrawal pains.

Good recommendation! We read those as they came out - 1 per year for a decade. There were 5 each in the Belgariad & Mallorean unless you count Belgarath, Polgara, & the Codex. I don't, but I can understand those that do. I'd recommend just reading the Belgariad, though.

The Elenium trilogy is followed by the Tamuli trilogy. Again, I'd suggest sticking with just the first set, though. IMO, Eddings tended to take a good thing & run it into the ground.

The Vorkosigan books are excellent, too. I recommend reading them in chronological order, but that can be tricky since some are short stories. For instance, "Falling Free" is a short story that comes before "Shards of Honor". "Mirror of Infinity" contains 3 short stories from different times.

I'd also suggest the Amber series by Roger Zelazny. There are 5 short books in the Corwin set starting with Nine Princes in Amber. There are 5 more books about Merlin, Corwin's son, but they're not as good. Gregory Betancourt was going to write 5 books as a prelude, but he only got 4 done. I enjoyed them, but Zelazny purists have issues with them & the 4th ends on a cliff hanger.

A really good stand alone by Zelazny is Lord of Light.

There's the Gor series by John Norman, I always liked them, a fantasy set in an alternate universe, with the protagonist being taken for our world. There's the Mars series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. there's The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant series by Stephen R. Donaldson, and for light and humorous fantasy there's the Myth series by Robert Asprin. All except the Myth series by Asprin involve protagaonists taken from earth

This conversation is making me want to reread the Pern books...

I was going to recommend Janny Wurts but I see you've read her! Instead, I'll recommend God's War and its two sequels by Kameron Hurley. It's more sci-fi than fantasy, but it blurs the boundaries with some bug-magic?tech?

the MYTH Adventure series by Robert Asprin is a good story, and funny

The Stainless Steel Rat series is good SF, also funny
