Emma Edwards | 1 comments Where'd you go Bernadette by Maria Semple. Its good, however for some reason im finding it hard to get into. Thinking of just putting it down tbh.

I used to read 3/4 books at a time but then I always found I didn't have time to read as I didn't know which book to read and I often wouldn't finish a book because I felt the others were better and wanted to finish them first.
I've since stop that and now only one book, although if you look at my currently reading on here there are two listed but that's only because I was experimenting on the app on my phone and downloaded an ebook and started reading it but I'm not actually enjoying reading it so have started on a different one.

At the minute I'm reading Jeffery Archer Kane and Abel simply because someone told me it was good and I should give it a read. So that's that. Next I want to read Paper Towns by John Green.

message 53: by Ness (new)

Ness I'm currently reading Fangirl and have A Dance With Dragons on hold since September. I really can't get through it, but I hope once the tv show starts up again, I might be a little more interested in the book.

Rikki (rikkicaron) | 112 comments Random question, but how do I remove books I'm currently reading? I normally read books in order of interest so I want to remove the one I'm reading now

message 55: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (whovian33) | 4 comments You remove them by putting them on a different shelf Rikki. :)
Has anyone read the Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine ??? I'm on #11 and oh my glob is it a good series !!! I recommend it to everyone !!! It's not a "oh my god the vampires are amazing, I'm in love with one" series, more of a "let's kill those things with fangs and try to be friends with them while they try to run the town we live in" kind of series .... yeahhh ... it sounds mental but is seriously underrated ! - SH

message 56: by Otti (new)

Otti Fae | 47 comments Rikki you can either put them on a different shelf or enter the shelf it's on and simply remove it with the X on the right :)

message 57: by LeeEl (new)

LeeEl | 28 comments I like to read one book at a time, but during the school year I'm too scattered to do that. I start and drop a million books at a time, even though I wish I didn't. I'm currently only ready Watchmen (though I'm also reading The Things They Carried for school), but I'm also in the middle of but not currently reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Children of the Mind, and The Deathly Hallows. I started and dropped quite a few other books as well but I don't think I'll go back to those. The ones I listed are the ones I intend to finish (technically I finished Deathly Hallows but I read it in school so I wasn't focused enough for it to have an impact, so I'm going to reread the end).

message 60: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Shaver | 7 comments I loved The Book Thief.

message 61: by Ella (new)

Ella | 84 comments Just finished Amelia Grey's Fireside Dream by Abby Clements and am now moving onto Just Listen by Sarah Dessen

message 62: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (beckyinabubble) | 1 comments I started reading 'Speak' by Laurie Halse Anderson this afternoon :) I love it so far, it is really touching and relatable. Has anybody else read this? What did you think of it?

message 63: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (lollalong) | 4 comments I normally read a few books at a time as I like to read different styles of books in different moods. But unfortunately, I've got to try and read through 3 books before the end of next week so going to have to use some speedy reading techniques! Currently trying to get through Les Misèrables but I don't have to the time!

message 64: by Melina (new)

Melina | 7 comments A memoir I read last year in my English class was Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs, it's really good and I think it's also a film but I haven't watched it yet. :)

message 65: by Katie (new)

Katie (katiec2210) | 31 comments I won't lie, I've currently got about five on the go - I used to stick to one at a time, but then I started reading two at once...and then three at once...and then four at once and so on. There's books scattered around my house so I tend to pick up whichever book I'm reading depending on the room I'm in really!

message 66: by Fien (new)

Fien (touchedbythepage) | 4 comments Goodreads is saying I'm currently reading 8 books. The thing is, when a book isn't interesting enough, or taking forever, I switch genres and start another one.

After reading the previous comments, I almost feel scared to admit that I'm reading quite a lot of books that are a "hype" at the moment. I'm not reading them because they -are- but because I've been wanting to read them for such a long time (and watching the series/films made me want to do so now). The first two books are those I'm really, really currently reading. The others are those I'm taking forever to finish.

For instance, I'm currently reading A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin (have been doing so for the past three months) and although I'm really into this book, it's SO huge that I need a break every two chapters.

The other one is Life of Pi by Yann Martel and it's okay so far, it's a bit too spiritual related for me to like finishing it at one go.

I'm also reading Harry Potter page to screen: the complete filmmaking and I love, love, love it! I'm only taking so long because I want to read it during my holidays to appreciate it to its maximum :p

Then I'm reading a Dutch book called "Hasse Simonsdochter" by Thea Beckman and that's a re-read. I'm reading it for my mum so I only get to read it when she wants me to.

Also reading A Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle. I started this a while ago but then I came across the Mortal Instruments last summer and they were so good I sort of forgot all about Sherlock Holmes. So I may have to start all over again...

I'm reading Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. I'm not sure why. I do not like it. I hope it gets better but I can't get past from where I stopped. And I'll have to re-read it again as well but I don't want to...because it's such a pain! Please, if anyone has read it before, let me know if it gets any better?

The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. This book I'm trying to read is for a book club but I don't know what to think. I can't seem to connect with anyone and because it's been about two years (I think? Or maybe it's one year) I keep forgetting who who is... I don't know why I bother finishing it.

But then again, when I start something, I have to finish it!

Sophie Kaelin (sophiekaelin) | 20 comments I'm currently reading 8 at the same time heheh. It can get confusing, but that's why I love it. It keeps my brain on edge. Right now I'm reading: Noah BarleyWater Runs away, paper towns, Allegiant, The Book Theif, Catching Fire, An Abundance of Katherines, Never let me go, The Intern. Is it too much? hehe

message 68: by Godruhn (new)

Godruhn | 7 comments Started The Name of the Wind yesterday! I've heard great things about it, so can't wait until I get more into it!

message 69: by Giovanna (new)

Giovanna Buratti (giiburatti) | 4 comments Started Pride and Prejudice a few days ago! I took to long to start reading it bc i didnt even knew that my mom had it hahahah But its being awesome till now.

message 70: by Rikki (new)

Rikki (rikkicaron) | 112 comments Hey Fien, what we were talking about is people who just read something because its popular, you read because you're genuinely interested and that's great so continue! I don't really know how to explain but I know people who say they've reads a book (that is popular) but actually haven't and that's what irks me tbh

8!! I wouldn't be able to keep up. I used to read like 2/3 at a time but never 8 and even when I'd read the 3 at the same time I'd never read as much as what I do now. But hey if it works for you lol. I guess it keeps books more interesting hehe.

message 72: by Emma Kihlberg (new)

Emma Kihlberg | 72 comments I'm currently reading 'Q - a love story' but since it's not really my cup of tea I find it hard to get through it, so I'm taking a break and reading other books in between. Since I almost always have lots to do in school I mostly just reread old favorites of mine, like 'A hitchhikers guide to the galaxy' and 'Eragon'.

message 73: by Sophie (new)

Sophie Kaelin (sophiekaelin) | 20 comments Shona: yeah, I sure does keep things interesting hehehe

Emma: it's an adorable book! Tends to drag on and bit through the middle, but the ending is sooooo worth the read. Okay. No more spoilers :)

message 74: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Mikels | 47 comments I'm reading Lone Survivor now, I'm starting to notice that I might have grown out of YA novels... Or the ones I've read recently I just didn't enjoy that much. Who knows! Is anyone else like this? I did love them, but I haven't read that many in about 2 years. I think I just enjoy something a little bit more my age range I guess. I hope I'm not alone though!

message 75: by Emma Kihlberg (new)

Emma Kihlberg | 72 comments Sophie, then I'm gonna hang on until the very end of the book! Thanks!

message 76: by Sophie (new)

Sophie Kaelin (sophiekaelin) | 20 comments I know it gets a little mehh.. In the middle, but you have to stay strong. You're in it till the end ;)
Enjoy x

message 77: by Ella (new)

Ella | 84 comments Courtney - I'm the same, I'm still trying to get through the YA books that I've brought and are on my shelf but over all they're just not interesting me anymore. It was weird coz it kinda happened over night that I'd grown out of them!

message 78: by Jennie (new)

Jennie (jennieelizabeth) | 91 comments Courtney and Ella, I'm the same too. I still read the odd YA book but only because they're easy and just a bit of light reading. I find I've got way too many I bought and never got around to reading, and now I doubt I ever will

message 79: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Mikels | 47 comments Ella and Jennie I've got a stack of them now they just aren't interesting anymore. I'm afraid I will not take part in the book club too, as most of those books are YA. I don't know, I tried to read Fangirl and I think I'm the only one who didn't like it. They suck you in at the bookstore with their blurbs and beautiful covers, (I always thought they had some of the best covers!) then you start reading it and it just isn't what I wanted. Oh well, at least I'm not alone!

message 80: by Ella (new)

Ella | 84 comments Yeah, I'm not taking part in the fangirl book club either. I'm going to see what book they're discussing for that month then decide if I'm going to take part. I'd love to be part of a book club but the YA books just no longer interest me

message 81: by Jennie (new)

Jennie (jennieelizabeth) | 91 comments I did read fangirl and I did like aspects of it, but it just wasn't great and I wouldn't want to only read books like that for the book club

message 82: by Shelbi (new)

Shelbi (sh_lbi) When I was little and my mum took me to the bookstore she would buy me a couple of books, and I could never choose which one to read first because I was too excited to read them all. So, I would read them all at the same time. I like to keep myself preoccupied with multiple stories, and I think that's because I had been doing that for so long!
Right now I'm reading Dracula, Half-Blood Blues by Esi Edugyan, the Attack on Titan manga, and, starting tomorrow, Fangirl. :D

message 83: by Rikki (new)

Rikki (rikkicaron) | 112 comments Hey, this is really random but does anyone watch my mad fat diary?

message 84: by Sophie (new)

Sophie Kaelin (sophiekaelin) | 20 comments Oooo I really wanna watch it! Is it good?

message 85: by Ash (new)

Ash (ashiew) I always read multiple books at one time. I don't why I do it but it has just been a thing I have done for a long time I guess. And I am currently reading James Clyde and the Diamonds of Orchestra by Colm McElwain.
This is the book I am the most invested in at the moment. :)

Julia Gross | 4 comments Shona wrote: "Ebru Hernandez wrote: "I see a lot of people who are reading like 2/3 books at the same time. Am I the only one who likes to concentrate on one book? Idk I feel weird now because there is sooo much..."

I prefer to read just one book as well, however I often have to read for school. Most of those books this year have been repeats so I've been able to read several at once, but if they were not, then I'd most likely focus on just one book.

message 87: by Erica (new)

Erica Rucker | 59 comments I've read 2 books at one time before and it wasn't very easy...
I also have a thing with series books where I have to read them all at the same time, unless the next book hasn't been published yet. Like I was going to read The A-List series, but my library didn't have the second book in so I put it off till later. I'm getting better though since I started my reading challenge because I want to read as many books as possible!

message 88: by Rikki (new)

Rikki (rikkicaron) | 112 comments Sophie wrote: "Oooo I really wanna watch it! Is it good?"

YES YES YES IT'S SOOO GOOD. I absolutely love the show, it's so realistic and I think pretty much anyone who watches it, loves it (a friend of mine didn't like it at first and then BAM! she'd finished season 1!)

message 89: by Shona (new)

Shona (shonalee) | 109 comments I've literally just finished reading Jeffery Archer Kane And Abel and moved on to Fangirl. I've only read the first few pages so not sure what to think yet.

message 90: by Darby (new)

Darby | 217 comments Well when I put currently reading I mean that I have a copy that I'm about to start. My profile says I'm reading Eleanor and Park as well as Leven Thumps and the Whispered Secret, but I'm ACTUALLY reading the Leven Thumps book and once I'm done with that I'm immediately starting Eleanor and Park. I don't have remotely enough brain cells to do 2 books at once

message 91: by Darby (new)

Darby | 217 comments The 2nd Divergent (I'm dumb and can't remember the name right now)
But on my 'available to read as soon as I'm done' list is
-City of Bones
-City of Ashes
-Perks of being a Wallflower
-Night Circus

message 92: by Ness (new)

Ness I started The Coldest Girl in Coldtown today. Usually I avoid vampires since I read Twilight, but this seems to be really good

message 93: by Ella (new)

Ella | 84 comments I just started The Rosie Project. Read the first chapter and it seems good so far :) I like the fact it's about love from a guys point if view, there's not enough books from the male point of view

message 94: by Jennie (new)

Jennie Haines (jenniehaines) | 11 comments I'm reading Ketchup Clouds by Annabel Pitcher, because I loved her other book Ny Sister Lives On The Mantelpiece. I'm finding it quite hard to get going with this book but hopefully the plot will pick up soon.
Next I'm reading Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell and also Fangirl, I ordered them both from the library so which ever comes first.
After I've finished watching Game of Thrones I really want to read the books. I'm enjoying the series a lot so I think I'll like the books too. Any Game of Thrones (tv series or books) fans here?

message 95: by Bec (new)

Bec (becmcgrath) | 5 comments Well I just started and finished Dash & Lily's Book of Dares which I really enjoyed! It was a great easy, light-hearted teen romance novel. It was super cute and I loved it! ^_^
But I am also in the process of reading Paper Towns by John Green, and so far I'm liking it, but I haven't gotten stuck into the plot or characters quite yet.

message 96: by Ash (new)

Ash (ashiew) I am currently reading Duma Key by Stephen King and I am really enjoying it so far. I can't wait to finish it :)

I bought it some weeks ago and it's next on my to-read list! I'm looking forward to reading it :)

message 99: by Julia (new)

Julia (skogsuggla) | 7 comments Paper Towns is amaaazing! You're gonna love it!

I'm currently forcing my way through Eragon by Christopher Paolini, I don't like it that much but I don't want to abandon it since I'm more than half-way through :(
A few friends recommended it and I got really disappointed when I didn't like it, since I'm a huge Fantasy nerd and had quite high expectations in it AHH

message 100: by Jaz (new)

Jaz | 3 comments I have to read two books at a time because I have a school reading book and a home reading book but I concentrate on the home book more and take quizzes on them at school so that I can get away with reading less of my school book. At the moment I am reading catching fire and it is going to be better than the first one I know for a fact because I liked the second movie better than the first plus Finnick O'dair is in this one my favourite character and the one I'm most similar to. Not looking forward to his death though. At least it towards the end of Mockingjay.

Sorry if I spoilt it for anyone! Oops!
