Ross Macdonald is good, too. Ran through him years ago.

can anyone recommend books in the style of Raymond Chandler? I read a couple by Ross Macdonald, which I liked, and I also read Red Harvest by Dashiell Hammett, which I didn't enjoy as much ... Any other hard-boiled/noir/witty/sarcastic writers out there?
