Juanita (juanitav) | 744 comments Hello everyone!

After a (too) long absence, I finally have progress to report. Last week, I finished A Streetcar Named Desire for a play. That leaves me with 5 books remaining. I am reading The Complete Grimm's Fairytales for a book more than 100 years old. It's a beast at nearly 800 pages and 211 stories but is holding my attention very well.

The fact that we only have 10 weeks left makes me nervous about tackling my remaining challenges. Think there may be some shuffling of titles in my future.

How has your progress been this week?

Katherine (kiik) | 158 comments I managed to complete 2 prompts this week: Orange is the New Black (turned into a TV show) and Steal Like an Artist (own but haven't read yet). That brings me to 41 books, only 1 behind schedule. I'm really hoping to catch up this week, as NaNoWriMo starts next week, and I'm going to be severely strapped for time all of November.

Tara Bates | 1008 comments I finished Life, The Universe and Everything for. Book published the year I was born, Speak for a banned book and did some shuffling to fit The Cuckoo's Calling in a mystery or thriller (replacing 419 which I've put into a book by an author you've never read) that last was annoying because I purposely left "author you've never read" free for my book club and they chose one by an author I have very much read (jk Rowling). Not finished that one yet though.

Sara I finished Where the Red Fern grows for my book that made me cry. It didn't, but I have resigned myself to the fact that nothing will so I'm settling for a book that makes me really sad.

I also read Jane Eyre for a classic romance (my original, Gone With the Wind, was moved to a pulitzer prize winner) which is probably my favorite classic.

I also read The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus by L. Frank Baum for my Christmas book. That was always obe of my favorite tv specials at Christmas time :)

Currently I am working on my final prompt which is Gods and Generals by Jeff Shaara. It will fill the book set in my hometown.

I'm still 5 books shy of my personal reading goal of the year, but I think I can manage that over the next two months :)

message 6: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Finally finished The Omnivore's Dilemma by Micheal Pollan. This book was for the prompt Book Your Mom Loves. 38 down, 12 more to go.

message 7: by Megan (new)

Megan (mghrt06) | 546 comments I finished my classic romance. Also, thanks to a delayed flight I finished my book based on a true story. Brings me to seven prompts to go!

Elizabeth Meadows (lizziefaye) | 9 comments I teared up at the end of The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. Have you ever read it? It is a super quick read, if you want to try again for something that will make you cry. I read it in one afternoon. Plus, it is really a fantastic book!

Sorry, I was trying to reply to Sara and I think I clicked on the wrong message.

I remember my daughter bringing it home from the school library once last year. She never finished it, and I haven't read it. I may give it a try! Thanks!!
