Books between 161 pages and 350 pages = 20 points
Books between 351 and 500 pages = 40 points
Books between 501 and 650 pages = 60 points
Books between 651 and 800 pages = 80 points
Books between 801 and 900 pages = 100 points
Books over 901 pages = 130 points

Current Goals
Let us know if you have a book that fits! :)

♦ Read a book with the word crash, bang, collide, bump or knock (plurals are acceptable) in the title --
♦ Read a book which has the main location (setting) as outer space --
♦ Read a book with the word aggregate in the text --
♦ Read a book with a pumpkin on the cover --

For current BOM (Book of the Month) discussions
Writing a day's worth of discussion questions = 40 points
Participating in a current BOM (participating in discussion) = 20 points
NOTE: We will accept one team member per book per team for writing a days DQs. If, by three days prior to the BOM starting, we don't have enough volunteers to write all DQs, then we will let more than one team member per team write questions. If we have more people than days sign up (prior to 3 days before start date) we will randomise the volunteers to determine those who can write DQs

For completing goals
For each book read that completes an open goal = 5 points

For TOWER TEAMS we're making The Child Thief by Brom (November's Adult Sci-Fi/Fantasy BOM) an exception.

Meaning, we are granting the page points, participating in discussion points, and DQ's points, as long as you finish the book after the starting date

message 16: by Rebekah (last edited Oct 29, 2015 09:26AM) (new)

Rebekah (bekalynn) I'm ready too. Not sure what the above message means. Can't we read any books after the start date and get credit whether or not they are BOMs?

message 17: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Rebekah wrote: "I'm ready too. Not sure what the above message means. Can't we read any books after the start date and get credit whether or not they are BOMs?"

Yes, that's true.

BOM's are an especial case. Meaning, besides the usual points per page count, if you join the discussion or write a day worth of DQ's (discussion questions), you get extra-points.

But, we also have the "only books started after the 7th" can be used. But, this BOM was a bit big, so we couldn't make the discussion end before Tower Teams's kick-off.

To keep it fair to everybody, we're allowing for this one, and only this one, to be starting before the 7th.

Does that make sense? I'm pipping in, since is early for Amanda to be around.

message 18: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyland) | 387 comments Yes, any book will get you credit after the start date.

For that BOM it's slated to start Nov 2, so we are allowed to start it before this challenge starts, but it will only count for points in the challenge if we finish it after the challenge starts.

At least that's my understanding of it :)

message 25: by Rebekah (new)

Rebekah (bekalynn) Thanks. How do you write a day's worth of questions? DO you spend all day writing questions?

message 26: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments Rebekah wrote: "Thanks. How do you write a day's worth of questions? DO you spend all day writing questions?"

No :)
BOMs (book of the month) are split into parts to be read each day. If you volunteer and get one of the days, you need to ask few questions about that part to start discussion.
For example, day 1 is chapter 1-3 so you'd need to read those chapters and make few questions about that part.

Unfortunately no, only books started after the official start time (November 7th at 7 GMT) can count towards the challenge.

Nancy (nancyland) | 387 comments Hey Team! Here is the link to my shelf Tower Team IV

Just so you know, I have an exam on November 12th, so there's a chance I'm missing in action those first few days of the challenge! On the other hand there's also a chance I'm constantly lurking as I look for distractions from studying ;)

Looking forward to starting this! I should be getting the first BOM from the Library later this week :D (I haven't signed up for DQ's... but I'll definitely get some participation points!)
