I started this today. I am on chapter 3. I like the writing style so far.

I've got to buy the book and get started.

It's good to know that yr liking it so far.

So I'm at 49%. It's okay... I like it but it's nothing like the other book the group read previously which I really enjoyed.

It was The Red Wolf's Prize.

I've completed the first 100 pages.

I'm at the end of chapter 5 at 22% (view spoiler)[ I like how she helped Nate pick up all the books that she threw. It shows her good side ---you can certainly understand feeling overwhelmed at being held captive ---and suddenly believing that your father has lied to you for years. (hide spoiler)] I like the book--------so far it is a typical romance book. The writing has a nice flow to it.

Is it just me or progress of the story is slow?

At the end of chapter 11 59%.I like the flow of the writing. It is the type of book I like, but I can see how it doesn't have enough action for some people. (view spoiler)[ I am not sure what percentage this happened at--a good ways back, but I wanted to say that I liked the image of her seeing her father on his boat---she would have to have had some doubts still lingering that he wasn't really a pirate and than to see him on his boat would have to have kind of stabbed her heart.Also, to know that he was firing at a boat he thought she was on had to be kind of rough too--------what if something had of gone wrong. And, on another thought, how many pirates capture someone and then take them to socialize in London? (hide spoiler)]

I finished the book. I liked it. 3.5 - 4 stars.

At one point (view spoiler)[ I though the author was going to take Claire down the road of jeopardizing Simon's efforts to ransom his crew! But thankfully RW didn't let this go on too long or let Claire mess anything up! (hide spoiler)]

Also, I was very nervous about (view spoiler)[Clair out and about in London shopping and having parties given for her. I thought for sure that her father knew that Simon had taken her to London. I also was nervous that Donet, her father would be captured at her wedding (hide spoiler)]

I liked the book, but I can see how it may not have had enough action for other readers.

You should read The Red Wolf's Prize. I didn't like this one but I loved that one.

At this is point, I'm skimming through the book.

I am going to be naughty and start this book on the weekend. A late bloomer this month I be. x

Finished last night - nice HEA, loved the main characters, even her father (view spoiler)[I liked that he wasn't such an ogre, just a daddy who wanted the best for his little girl. Coming to the wedding scene was really cool. Although I have to agree with Leslie - who kidnaps someone and then throws a party for her? (hide spoiler)]

That's great, Martha. She's a great writer, but I just didn't particularly enjoy this one unfortunately.

Thanks! The author is knowledgeable of the period and provided some great images to work with. She also chose the music.

I finished last night. I made the mistake of switching over to another book half way through so that I could read it with a friend. I was really liking this book until I stopped and started again. I don't know if the ending was just a little plain or if I had adjusted to the other book which was like a 7 star book for me. All in all, I liked the book. I don't feel inclined to read more in the series though.

Leslie, possibly you lost momentum? That's happened to me when I've stopped reading a book for a similar reason as yours or maybe it's the book.

I have had this happen before when I thought I had several chapters left and it was late so I stop for the night and then come back to find I really only had a couple of pages left and then hate the ending so maybe it is the momentum thing. Of course, I am one that also usually feels let down at the end of books. It seems that most authors don't know how to tie up the ends to finish. But, then maybe it is because I become one with my books and hate for them to end.

I've seen reviews where people loved most of a book, but felt let-down by the ending and it's happened to me.

I've enjoyed books where I didn't want them to end too.
