I'll tell you a secret: women are men like any others.

Gavin (thewalkingdude) | 110 comments I'm planning to read Crisis on Infinite Earths and it's many crossover stories. That's a lot, but if I still have time, I'll read
Spice & Wolf, Vol. 9: The Town of Strife II
Mansfield Park
El hombre duplicado

message 5: by Kandice (new)

Kandice The Shadow of the Wind (The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, #1) by Carlos Ruiz Zafón Pet Sematary by Stephen King Career of Evil (Cormoran Strike, #3) by Robert Galbraith and Coraline by Neil Gaiman are my only planned reads, but I know I'll end up reading others.

Melaslithos | 1645 comments @Gavin I love Mansfield Park! Maybe my favorite Jane Austen, although it's quite hard to pick one above the others.

@Kandice Coraline is fantastic too!

Kandice I've tried to read it a few times on my own, but it's the "One Book One San Diego" selection for the public library so my library book club is reading it together. This time I HAVE to read it.

Those are some pretty awesome picks!

House of Small Shadows sounds particularly appealing.

I am not sure what I will be reading in November, even less than usual because I believe I have slipped into a reading slump.

I am starting with a book offered by the author, The Viper and the Urchin by Celine Jeanjean The Viper and the Urchin, but so far I am not really engaged.

Meh, October was somewhat bad for me, particularly the last half, guess that's why I am feeling this way.

You can find my wrap-up post here: https://anaslair.wordpress.com/2015/1...

Melaslithos | 1645 comments It's the last day of November, time for a little recap!

This month I've read:
Christmas in Plains Memories by Jimmy Carter Le Collier rouge by Jean-Christophe Rufin Settling in Spain Our New Life Between the Mountains and the Sea by Doreen B. Tonks The Secret River by Kate Grenville Microserfs by Douglas Coupland Quarante jours au désert Carnet de route d'un pauvre pélerin du sable et des étoiles by Alexis de Guillebon Mr Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan Before the Ripcord Broke Stories by Charlie Close The Garden of Evening Mists by Tan Twan Eng

All in all, it was quite a fruitful month, even though it didn't exactly went according to plan.

My favorite book this month was cearly The Garden of Evening Mists, that I found absolutely amazing. And I now want to share it with everyone.

As for the ones I liked the less, I found Settling in Spain: Our New Life Between the Mountains and the Sea particularly awful and Microserfs especially boring.

I hope next month will hold more good surprises such as The Garden of Evening Mists!

Kandice I didn't re-read Coraline, so didn't read the four I planned, but I did read Itsy Bitsy, Little Star, Wizard and Glass, One for the Road: An Illustrated Story, A Rose for Emily and am still slogging through Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. I've gotten a little over halfway through Wolves of the Calla.

December will be very busy so I may not get a lot of reading done.

I am so sad. I only managed to read two books. I have barely had time for reading or blogging, my only pastimes these days.
Sorry I haven't been around, guys. Work is draining me out.

I read The Viper and the Urchin and The Pestilence.

Melaslithos | 1645 comments There are months like that...
I hope December is going to be better and less busy for you!

Kandice I'm so sorry Ana! I can't remember what you do, but I think I remember it being religion based which means December may not be less stressful. I know it won't for me for that reason!

I am so looking forward to the long weekends for Christmas and New Years and no work on Sundays during Winter break.

Oh no, that's only on my free time.
I got a job last July as an administrative.

I was confused. Administrative Assistant kind of thing? That's my official title at work, but I've come to realize that's code for "whatever needs done"!

I work for an agency which handles the entire process of applying portuguese students to UK universities. I handle the paperwork part, mostly. But yes, new challenges keep arising, deadlines, etc.

Eheh something like that :)
I really enjoy it but along with my church activities I feel like I never have the time or mindpower to focus on reading. I miss it a lot.

Kandice I hear you!
