My favorite character was definitely Baz. I mean, in the beginning Simon was literally obssessed with him so that kind of made me obsessed with him too and when he showed up I was not disapointed in the slightest.
My favorite parts were probably the kiss and that part in the beginning when Baz is like "And when I felt myself slipping too far, I held on to the one thing I’m always sure of – Blue eyes. Bronze curls. The fact that Simon Snow is the most powerful magician alive. That nothing can hurt him, not even me. That Simon Snow is alive. And I’m hopelessly in love with him.". I literally had to put the book down to internally scream. Oh and I also love that part at the end when Baz uses "On love's light wings!" and then he explains that you can only use that spell "if you understand the Great Vowel Shift of the Sixteenth Century--and if you're stupidly iun love". What can I say, I'm snowbaz trash

First, I love the magic system. It's actually something I've never read before and it works really well. Fantasy books are my favorite, but there's something that kind of bothers me about them and that is the fact that the wizard don't adapt to the "modern ages". For instance, in Harry Potter, the pure bloods are completely clueless about technology, movies and basically everything that's muggle stuff. In this book that doesn't happen at all: Penelope's mother uses a laptop, they have phones and more.
I also really like the female characters: Agatha, who just wants to be normal (other thing that I don't see a lot in fantasy) and Penelope who'll never leave Simon's side even if it kills her. Also, she's so smart and she's a woman of color which is A+.
Another thing that I love about the characters is the fact that they all have flaws. Off the top of my head, even though Penelope is very smart, sometimes she doesn't think things through. For example, that time when she wanted Simon to "give" her his magic, even with Simon telling her that he could hurt her.
Also, I loved the friendships, especially Simon and Penelope. I won't go into too much detail right now because I've already talked to much.
As for the villain, I thought that the Humdrum was a very clever one! It had a horcryx-y vibe to it but at the same time it was nothing like it.
Another character that I found very interesting was the Mage. Because this book is obviously (and intentionally I believe) similar to Harry Potter I couldn't stop comparing him to Dumbledore and I actyually thought their characters were kind of alike in the way they "raised" Simon/Harry. In particular, their manipulativeness (I'm of the opinion that even though Dumbledore did a lot of good, there were things he did to Harry that just weren't acceptable). It's interesting to see that everyone noticed that except for Simon, which kind of shows the "abusive" behavior that the Mage had towards him that led to sort of a brain wash (I'm probably stretching it here).
Anyway, I loved this book and I could talk about it for weeks but I feel like I've said enough for one day.

Rainbow has written this love story - as always - brilliantly!

I loved Simon and Baz. I kind of wanted more chapters from Penelope's POV but then again that's the problem with me when I love a book or series, I'm always left wanting for more.

I've never read Fangirl, but I'm thinking about it after picking this up..
