Nevada (vadatastic) | 78 comments I'm currently reading Girl of Nightmares, and planning to follow that up with some Dennis Lehane (Mystic River and maybe Gone, Baby, Gone) I really need to take a break in between these dark, depressing books. Hopefully with a lite read, PNR heavy, preferably a stand-alone since I can get a little obsessive and will side-track easily if it's a series with characters that I get curious about. Therein lies the problem, I have a ton of series on my TBR list, but I can't think of a single stand-alone. Suggestions please.

Amanda (ladycello) If you're looking for REALLY light and fluffy, with sometimes excessive amounts of smexy-times, Eve Langlais could be an option. She does lots of series, but also has a few stand-alone books. All of her books are PNR. Whenever I need to give my brain a vacation, I pick up one of her books, which could easily be finished in a day.

Ariel Stirling | 91 comments Um, not a standalone sadly, but a super fast and fun series with just a sprinkle of sexy times. Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic by Meghan Ciana Doidge.

Has werewolves, vampires, witches, warlocks, dragons, and well, cupcakes... So it's really the complete package. Anyway, I really enjoyed it's lighter tone and playful feel (other than the whole dark magic thing), so it might be just what you're looking for.

Adelaide Hipwell (adelaidehipwell) I've always found Lynsay Sands vampire romances (the "Argenau" books) to be easy reading - there's some action, but they're not super scary and they've got gentle humour throughout. There's a few sex scenes in each book. None of the novels are particularly long. There's lots of titles in the series, but they can all be read as standalones (a bit like The Babysitters Club - a recap of the essentials within each book for both new and old readers!).

Beth P I'll rec Mina Khan's Wildfire. It's a standalone paranormal mystery that has a strong-ish romance thread. The protagonist is a Japanese American dragon shifter in Texas.
