Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I didn't do particularly well with my 2015 reading goals, I read quite a lot of World War One novels but didn't get through many classics. Because of that, one of my goals for next year will be to continue working through the unread books on my classics shelf.

I am also going to link my 2016 Yearly Challenge thread in here as well.

Bella | 502 comments Lisa, if you want to do a buddy read for one or a few of the Bookers, let me know. I'm especially looking forward to A Brief History of Seven Killings.

I noticed in your Classics list that you have the Grimm Brothers. The new translation is supposed to be excellent: The Original Folk and Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm, translated by Jack Zipes.

The Original Folk and Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm by Jacob Grimm

This new-ish collection of fairy tales is also supposed to be good as well: The Turnip Princess and Other Newly Discovered Fairy Tales by Franz Xaver von Schönwerth

A Booker buddy read or two would be great Bella! I am really looking forward to A Brief History of Seven Killings too so maybe we could read that one together? I think it could make for an interesting buddy read/discussion. That and A Little Life are the two that I am the most interested in reading. I might start 'A Little Life' in the next couple of weeks but the rest I will read next year.

A Little Life is the other Booker I really want to read. I already have both books. (It's so embarrassing, but I bought ABHOSK last January, I think. When it got named one of Publishers Weekly's Books of the Year.) Would love to do a buddy read, any time is fine, except around Christmas.

I own both of them too but I only bought them recently. Anytime is fine for me too with regards to a buddy read. Shall we get Christmas and New Year out of the way and start reading ABHOSK in January? Maybe start January 10th?

January 10th sounds good- we should have all the holiday guests cleared out and the house back to normal by then.

If you want to read A Little Life this month, that works for me.

Great! January 10th it is then :) I will set up a discussion thread for it in the next few weeks.

As for 'A Little Life', what about starting next Sunday (15th)? Does that work for you? If not, pretty much anytime in November is good for me.

Bella | 502 comments Next Sunday sounds good to me. Hopefully a few other people will join us. I'm looking forward to it. I think that even the people who didn't care for the book mostly commented that it was very well written.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Ok, great! I will go and set up a thread for it. I think quite a few people have it on their TBR so hopefully some will join us. I'm looking forward to it too. I haven't seen too many bad reviews for it but as you say, those that did rate it low all still commented on it being well written and thought provoking.
