We Have Always Lived in the Castle

What is the great opening line? What do you like about it?
"My name is Mary Katherine Blackwood. I am eighteen years old, and I live with my sister Constance. I often thought that with any luck at all I could have been born a werewolf, because the two middle fingers on both my hands are the same length, but I have had to be content with what I had." I wanted to find out more about this person that wanted to have been born a werewolf. It is an odd thing to want out of life.

“You may tell a tale that takes up residence in someone's soul, becomes their blood and self and purpose. That tale will move them and drive them and who knows that they might do because of it, because of your words. That is your role, your gift.”
― Erin Morgenstern, The Night Circus

“Atticus told me to delete the adjectives and I'd have the facts.”
― Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

“I am a restlessness inside a stillness inside a restlessness.”
― Dodie Smith, I Capture the Castle
