As for advice doing a buddy read...you've done the hard bit, creating the thread, now just look forward to having fun reading and discussing :)
heidi good book , lovely movie too

Which adaption do you mean, Rachid? I must admit, I've never seen one, I grew up with the anime series. It was very popular when I was 4 :)

But I also remember two films with real actors. One of those was a wee bit strange, though. They flipped the "antagonist"; Fräulein Rottenmeier was the friendly one to Heidi and Klara very mean.
I think the normal Heidi movie I watched was this one:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063051/t...

Lol! Great cast by the way. It's hilarious how many Heidi adaptation exist.

I know! How awesome is that? I feel like a book activist :D
- I checked back and it is now tied with Dostoyevsky. WHO did this?! Just kidding.

If everyone here comes for the buddy read it will almost be as if it had been chosen. :)

Thank you, unknown reader!

I doubt you're on the right thread for this, Loretta. We root for Heidi ;)

Oh, and Sam, I can be on whatever thread I want to be because the last time I checked, I'm a member of this group. :)

Try not to lose your sense of humor, Loretta. I believe you started out all in good fun? Both books can be read by anyone who wishes at any time, with or without a vote.

Right you are Sara! And it was all in good fun. Sorry if I offended you. Peace out!

I'll be glad to see Heidi win, as it's been second or third place so many times. We've seen this happen with lots of books this past year, eventually they seem to win in the end.
Either way, Heidi will happen in January now!
Loretta, if Brothers K does miss out again, how about considering a buddy read for that one, as I suspect it will also get some interest. Or else, give it another nomination for Feb and see what happens....mind you, still a few hours for it to sneak back into first place yet!

Thanks for your suggestions Pink. Since I don't do buddy reads maybe I'll nominate The Brothers Karamazov again or maybe I'll just refrain from nominating anything for a while. I'm sorry you had to get involved in something so trivial. I was joking. Plain and simple. Thanks again.

As for Brothers K, definitely, definitely re-nominate! I have spent multiple months nominating and seconding books in the past, sometimes after several tries I will admit defeat and just read alone, or see if anyone else wants to read with me. I think in this case Brothers K has been coming a close second a few times, so there is definitely enough interest for a group read.
And as for Heidi.......it WON!!!!!! (Bet it would't have if you hadn't planned the buddy read Sam!)

The reason why I ask, is that since joining GR I'm seriously addicted to group reads AND buddy reads.
I'm just curious about a different perspective on buddy reads since i think you do feel differently.

I was absolutely not offended. I took your comment and others as meant light-heartedly. I just got the sense the conversation wasn't going that way in the end. Pink's comments are an exact reflection of my feelings. I have tackled and given up on Bros K in the past, I would love to do it with a group. Maybe February will be the time.

So, Heidi made the poll. This means it will be an official read and this thread is obsolete. You were great, I really didn't expect this to turn out as it did!
I wish you all a great time reading or rereading Heidi in January! I'm so looking frward to it.
