Danny Deaubé (dannyldeaube) | 191 comments I Am Alive

A silent little mound, a place we can immerse;

A quiet little prayer, a quiet little verse:

Don't spend your time in sorrow, while you look upon my grave;

You did the very best you could, but now you must be brave:

Please don't be sad, for what you must forbear;

My absence is but a reminder, life isn't always fair;

Peaceful is the resting place, and hallow is the ground;

But please don't look down here for me, here I won't be found:

This body is only the house I dwell, and when it is put to rest;

It's just my earthly baggage I leave, that earth and worm infest:

My home is no longer here my love, I dwell in the heaven's above;

Where pain and sorrow has no place, just peace, joy, and love.

I'm only here just passing through, a place of no compare;

And once I reach the other shore, I'll pray for you a prayer:

So search no more in this earthly realm, just as Jesus said;

"For I am among the living, I am not among the dead:"

So raise up your head in beauty gaze, and look up in the air;

For there is where you'll find me, secure and in His care.

I did not see this coming, nor could I know the joy;

For when I opened up my eyes, no human could destroy:

There He was in all His glory, looking in my eyes;

The hurt and pain was well worth it, to dwell where no one dies:

His gentle smile with hands open wide, He held me to his breast;

"A job well done my faithful one, come join me in my rest:"

So when you look up in the sky, please remember this;

I will be looking down on you, and blowing you a kiss:

Until we meet again one day, we'll have to say good-bye;

And carry on until we meet, then I'll teach you how to fly:

Get rid of all your mourning clothes, and put on your very best;

And enjoy the time we had together, will be my only request:

And should you feel a yearning, way down deep instead;

Just replace it with a great big smile, I am alive, not dead.

Danny Deaubé (dannyldeaube) | 191 comments How powerful is a kiss? Let me tell you a story about our daughter Holly that clearly proves my point. Wednesday nights at church, we have Awana program for children. Holly was in the youngest group, the "Sparks," ages five to seven.

One Wednesday evening at Awana, Marilyn, a mother of two of the children in Sparks, came in to observe the class. She was sitting in the back and noticed Holly standing there upset and crying, so she went up to her and hugged her and asked, “What’s the matter? Why are you crying?” Holly did not answer, because she did not know her. Marilyn stayed with her and asked her again. “My mommy didn’t kiss me,” Holly answered. Marilyn said her heart just broke. “Holly, hold on just a minute.” She said, “You just wait right here; I’m going to get your mommy.” She talked to the Sparks leader and asked them who and where her mother was. The Sparks leader told her in which Bible study room to find my wife Bonnie. Marilyn thought to herself, What is she going to think of me? She went to get Bonnie at the Bible study and said, “Your little girl is crying because you didn’t kiss her. “Oh, I must have been in a hurry!” Bonnie answered. She said Bonnie didn’t seem to think it was a bit unusual at all, so she went right back to Sparks with Marilyn and very tenderly gave Holly a kiss and a hug. Holly’s world was just fine, Marilyn joined the group, Bonnie went back to her Bible study. Marilyn said, “I just sat there and thought what power is in a mother’s kiss … a mother’s comfort.”

Well nothing as serious as those mentioned.
Right now my trouble stems from trusting God even when the world seems to be moving too fast. Worries and fears seem to get the best of me which often keeps me from the Lord. So seeing you and your amazing testimony makes me remember that God is always there! Even in my worry and confusion ((:

It seems like it's a constant battle between our will and His :)Worries and fears tend to get in the way :(
My older brother is on hospice. We have a good relationship. He has heard my testimony time and again but he wants nothing to do with God. It breaks my heart :( His days are numbered and he refuses to as he says, "Become a hypocrite," at the end. He is very stubborn and prideful. I've asked God to speak clearly to him in the time he has left... :)

Danny Deaubé (dannyldeaube) | 191 comments I am a Griefshare (A group of grieving people who have suffered loss of a loved one)facilitator. Last week we saw a video of a woman who had lost both parents unexpectedly. Still grieving she walked into her parents room and closed the door. She heard God say, "Sandy, I want you to give me thanks. "What?" She said. She got down on her knees and asked, "How can I thank you for this tragedy? What can I thank you for?" God answered, "I didn't ask you to thank me for the tragedy, I want you to thank me for your mom and dad..." You see, sometimes we our lose focus in times of great loss. God doesn't want us to thank Him for the loss, He wants us to thank Him for the time we had with our loved ones.

This book is about just that! I humbly ask you to thoughtfully consider reading this book..

Danny Deaubé (dannyldeaube) | 191 comments Waiting On God

Waiting is not what we are all about, nor is in our vocabulary. It provokes the thought of helplessness. We loathe waiting. When waiting, we feel we are not in control. We tend to wait only when forced to. Why is that? We want answers, we want results, and we want them now!

I have spent some of my life waiting on God. Much of this book is exactly that, waiting on God. Waiting does not always result in answers we hoped. I think you will agree no one likes to wait, especially when we have no other choice. Waiting does not mean twiddling our fingers and waiting for God to act. Waiting involves doing what you can, and leaving the rest to God. However, what happens when God does nothing, and conditions get worse or even bleak? If we rely on our feelings, we may conclude, God is not listening, and He does not care.

Feeling will come and feelings will go, this is where faith comes in. Having faith and trust when we do not understand is the hallmark of the Christian life. God does not ask us to understand, He asks us to trust Him! We may never understand why God allows certain events in our lives to unfold, but He does, and that is good enough for me!

I see things different from God. I am near-sighted, whereas God is far-sighted. I am finite, and He is infinite. Is there any wonder why we cannot understand His ways? There is a difference between waiting on God, and waiting in God. Waiting ON God implies waiting for God to act, and waiting in God, suggests waiting in HIS will.

You can always trust the man who died for you! :)

Danny Deaubé (dannyldeaube) | 191 comments The God of the Storm

Have you ever watched a lightning storm? It is very frightening and intimidating. We tend to run for cover if there is such a place, to get a glimpse at this spectacular display of nature’s power, and we cringe under its enormous scope. Sometimes we forget storms are not just random acts that are unleashed at will, but they are under God’s sovereign control.

Natures God directs all of these elements and they too conform to His precise will. Elihu in the book of Job describes storms in part in chapter 37 in verses 9-13 as follows; “The stormy wind comes from its chamber, and the driving winds bring the cold. God’s breath sends the ice, freezing wide expanses of water. He loads the clouds with moisture, and they flash with his lightning. The clouds churn about at his direction. They do whatever he commands throughout the earth. He makes these things happen either to punish people or to show his unfailing love.”

In our spiritual lives, sometimes we cannot hide from storms, we must go through them though it may be painful. Some may be short lived, while others may drag on for days, weeks, or even years. No one said storms are easy, but often they are necessary. Storms in our lives are often teaching moments that draw us closer to God, and in the midst of our storms He is there.

Yes, sometimes storms punish or correct people, but more often, they show us God’s unfailing love. Where else can God display His abiding love, better than, when we are in the depths of pain and suffering? It is only until we recognize, that it is He, who is controlling the storm, and sometimes, it is all we can do but draw close and find shelter in the arms of the God of the storm.

Danny Deaubé (dannyldeaube) | 191 comments Thanks for the Memories

Hugs and squeezes, with time out from strange diseases
Teddy bears, bedtime prayers, maybe a game of musical chairs
Little girl things like hugs and kisses, “I love you,” and birthday wishes
“You’re it,” and funny faces, hide and seek in different places
Piggy back rides, playground slides, jungle gym, and the brothers Grimm
Hop scotch, Sesame Street, Halloween and trick or treat
Mother goose, and nursery rhymes, those were the good old times.

Never took ballet classes, danced with boys or wore glasses
Nor had the chance, to kiss a boy or have romance
No pig tails, make up, or some braces, and growing in all the right places
Big girl things, like boyfriends, holding hands, and high school rings
No nylons, training bras, or tall high heels, never bought a set of wheels
Or beauty salons, lipstick, or a manicure, but sadly never found a liver cure
No shower, wedding, or a set of dishes, and no hope of becoming Mr. and Mrs.
These are what I will never see, and neither will it ever be.

Happy Birthday Holly! See you in the “spring…”

Danny Deaubé (dannyldeaube) | 191 comments God is Love

A few months ago as I looked at one of our six apple trees, I noticed it was a bumper year. There had to be over 100 apples on that tree. But among all the good apples, my eyes focused on a few bad apples. Isn’t it funny, sometimes it’s the bad apples that get our attention instead of all the good apples? It is like the glass of water. Is it half empty or half full? It really depends on our perspective or what we focus on. We tend to see life in the same manner, either positive or the negative depending on our perspective. Do we have a propensity to see life as either good or bad or black or white with no shades of grey in between? Just because life gives us, a bad apple or two, doesn’t mean we stop picking apples or we refuse eating them all together! Sure, life has its ups and downs, no one disputes that. But what are we focusing on, the ups or the downs? How we perceive life is an indicator how we will live our lives.

It reminds me of a story about an old farmer in Nebraska. On the top of his barn was a weather vane with the words “God is Love” on it. One day an atheist neighbor stopped by to talk to the old farmer, and while they conversed, his neighbor noticed the weather vane with its words. The atheist, being a deep thinker asked the old farmer sarcastically, “What does that mean? God’s love is like a weather vane… always changing?” No, said the farmer, looking up at the weather vane, “It means, no matter which way the wind blows, God is love.” God’s actions are not driven by the wind, they are always driven by His love. :)
