Anna Erishkigal (annaerishkigal) More than a decade after the Farscape television series was abruptly cut off and The Peacekeeper Wars tied up all the loose ends, Tor just announced there was a new Farscape in the works featuring the adventures of John Crichton and Aeryn Sun's baby, Little D'Argo (named after D'Argo who sacrificed himself in the Peacekeeper Wars movie), who has been raised on Earth the past 19 years to keep him safe and is now ready to rejoin his galaxy-spanning parents.

As a rabid Farscape fan, this announcement made me jump up and down and squeal *SQUEE*. My Crichton/Aeryn obsession has been fed thus far by the numerous Peacekeeper tie-in novels and frequent visits to the Farscape threads on Fanfiction.net and Wattpad.

Who else hopes they go ahead and film this show? Any other rabid Farscape fans in the community?

G. Edgar Murray (g_edgar_murray) This makes a Scaper's heart swell with joy. I must say that I will thoroughly miss D'argo, though.

I know, huh? :-( But maybe his son will come back in some form? I was upset when they replaced Zhaan with the red-headed Zikozu because she was too much like Chiana's old character. Or they killed off Crais after he started being likeable. But overall I really enjoyed the series and will be first in line at the movie theater if this movie gets made :-)

Steph Bennion (stephbennion) | 303 comments Somehow, Farscape passed me by when it originally aired. I finally got around to buying the DVD boxset just last week(!) and so I'm still on Season 1...

Anna Erishkigal (annaerishkigal) I used to stay up until 2am on Sunday nights to watch the rebroadcast here until they finally made the box set available. Awesome show! You -have- to get to Season 3 ... it was my favorite. That ... and the post-series Peacekeeper Wars.

It's a great series, isn't it? Luckily for you, there's a gazillion tie-in novels (all listed above :-) Great sci-fi series never die, they just go underground into tie-in novels and fanfiction until the next time somebody comes up with another movie :-)

Steve | 6 comments Like Steph above, I missed Farscape, but bought the entire boxed DVD set a few months back. My Sci-Fy friends insisted. Seeing the hubbub about a Farscape movie tells me I need to start watching!

The first few episodes of Farscape may seem a little weird because they used intricate Jim Henson Company puppets instead of the usual blue-screen CGI. But this gives a 'real' feeling to the character's interactions because they ARE real characters, not just an actor pretending to read to a voice-box. Once you get used to it, you'll be thoroughly addicted.

Only the first few episodes? It was pretty weird throughout. Which is good. You're right about the puppets, though; Rigel and Pilot both came across as genuine characters and I quickly stopped seeing them as muppets (which I never could with Yoda, but I think that's because he sounded like Miss Piggy's grandfather).

I always adored Pilot. And Rigel ... he always had those nasty little whiskers that curved when he sneered that made me like ... eeew! Like in a good way, though. :-)
