Solemn I didn't like it either. Then again i'm thinking that i'm in the wrong demographic.

Kin If I'm being honest, I didn't like it. This and Red Queen were two of the most hyped YA books of 2015, but I didn't really see anything special or gut wrenching. It was also pretty repetitive.

I also kind of felt a bit duped when the author decided it was going to be a series instead of a standalone. That was the reason a lot of people bought the book. For a fantasy standalone. The marketing was pretty off.

I agree completely - especially about the stand-alone into series. Sigh.

You voiced it all so perfectly! I might give the second book a shot, but legit, I don't really care for the characters. The book carried a somber mood, but the characters almost had none
