Kelley Anne | 1619 comments Has anyone read any of the books by Scott Westerfeld? He is such a different writer that I was wondering how other people have liked his books. I've read his Uglies series (Uglies, Pretties, Specials and Extras) as well as his Midnighters Series (The Secret Hour, Touching Darkness, and Blue Noon).

I've really enjoyed his books, but he really is an odd writer. I gave Uglies to my sister-in-law to read, but she just can't seem to get into it. I wanted to know if that's a common thing or not. Anyways, just thought that it'd be fun to start a conversation about an author that we really haven't talked about yet!

Jessi (jessim) I read the Uglies series. They were really good. I am not usually into those kind of books, but was hooked from the first one. I like his writing style, he is really creative. I want to read his Peeps series, just haven't had a chance to start them yet.

Jess | 3721 comments I only read the first book of the series and I was completely disinterested in it. His writing style bothered me. But I am definitely in the minority on this topic lol.

Kasia You guys know he's negotiating Uglies movie now? I'm excited about that! I'd love to see all that craziness on the screen...

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments I didn't know that they were going to do a movie. Honestly, that kinda worries me! It seems like so much of the important things that are talked about are more along the lines of internal monologue, not conversations. But it could be really intersting to see how they do it all!

Jessi (jessim) I saw on his website about the movie possibility. I'm excited. I thought that the books were greate, and of course no movie is as good as the book, but this one has great potiental for being good if it is made properly. Hopefully they don't turn it into some cheesy kid flick.

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments Has anyone read Peeps / Parasite Positive? I started it but didn't finish the book. I'm not sure if it was because of the book itself or if I was just on a Scott Westerfeld overload. I had read the other 7 books all in a row and then went straight to this one and couldn't finish. For those that have read it, what did you think about the chapters about the parasites?

Ellen (ellenpenleysmith) I have been told his midnighters series is really good. At least I think its him who writes it!

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments He does write the midnighters series. I liked the second and third book of that series a lot better than the first one. The first was kinda slow but the odd world that he created piqued my interest enough that I had to read on and see what would happen.
