Lending a Paw: A Bookmobile Cat Mystery

Here's where to discuss the book.

I'm about halfway through, and liking it more than I thought I would. A couple of times I thought "Oh no!", especially the first time Minnie thought about solving the murder. But I'm mostly having fun with it. I love the way Minnie talks to Eddie, just like I talk to my two dogs. We know they don't understand us, and we don't expect answers, but it's a nice habit.

(view spoiler)[One thing that bothers me - Minnie's habit of writing on her board where she's going whenever she leaves home. Won't that come in handy when she's missing and probably taken by the killer??? (hide spoiler)]

As i got into the first few chapters, i thought it sounded like other books i read and almost stopped reading it; but the more i read, the more i liked it. I began to really like eddie. I dont think minnie and most of the other characters were given enough depth though. My favorite part was minnies first date with tucker.

I've read the book and liked it a lot (specially Eddie). I thought it was a bit slow at the beginning but I've enjoyed it in the end. I'll read the second one.

It seems that in most cozies that the police are portrayed as either dumb and lazy, or hotties with a brain. I haven't figured out how Detectives Inwood and Devereaux are going to fit in yet. Neither is a love interest, and at first they appeared as the stereotypical 'let us handle it, little missy' type, and didn't take her seriously. At the end there was a slightly different tone - they apologized to her and came across as competent.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's adorable and I love the way Minnie talks to Eddie and he says "Mrr." The supporting characters are entertaining. I can hardly wait for the next installment which according to Barnes & Noble's website will be coming out, I think, in July.

This is still in my TBR pile. Hopefully I will read it this summer. I'm getting such a backlog of TBR books and can't get caught up!
