Looking for Goodreads Friends!

When I was younger I hated reading, mainly for the fact that I couldn't read. I credit my mum as to why I'm such an avid reader now because she was so patience with me and she never got mad. I hope I can pass the love of reading onto one of my kids. Now you won't see me without a book!
My favourite include: romance of course (military, sports, lowborn, enemies to lovers type, I'm starting to get more into historical) I love a good fantasy book and anything post apocalyptic or dystopian.
Look forward to getting to know you all!

Hi Tyler - friend request accepted, :O)
Let me know if either of you fancy a buddy read. I'm up to buddy read anything on my Read Next Shelf

it took me some time, too, to get the hang of the website. By roughly December last year (I joined in June last year, by the way), I didn't have any friends either. Just ask people and, generally, they say yes. I think the other way round occurs pretty rarely.
Just sent you a friend request. Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Welcome Li - I've sent you a friend request.

Request sent. Welcome!

I love romance and fantasy the most - and these are usually a mix of YA and slightly more mature reads...

So I am looking for some friends that I can make on here. Some who may share the same interests and may not. I am always looking to expand my reading scope to other genres.
I really enjoy a little romance in every book that I read but I have also wanted to branch out into fantasy, and YA books, along with getting into comics and manga.
So I hope to here from some of you and really look forward to making some new friends.

I love m/m a lot recently as I've only started getting back into reading fully in the last few months, after focusing on fanfic a lot the last few years. Still I enjoy a variety of genres and always a touch of romance xx
So feel free to send me a request, thank you.

Hi Laura, just click on the person's name and you will be taken to their profile page. Then just click "Add as friend" to send a request.

I'm right there with you. I joined GR a decade ago and my interests have changed quite a bit. I also have been immersed in fanfic (primarily MCU) for the past couple of years, so my regular reading fell off in a major way. I've missed all of my challenge goals since 2017, lol. I plan to set my 2020 reading goal and then restrict my fanfic reading to 1 day per week or something.
Probably also need to do a TBR clean-up like you did. I read a wide range of genres, including m/m romance as well. I'm sure we'll have lots to chat about!

^^^This. Fanfiction has overtaken my reading for far too long. Time to find some balance and read some published works as well.
Welcome to the group!

Oh I'm glad not just me who fell into fanfic, I'm very much mcu too! I've actually not read much fanfic the past few months since getting back into books now, but that's primarily I think because I've read majority of one's that interest me at this point. Although I still check Ao3 regularly... And read one every now and then because I'm weak 😂
Haha I got rid of over 200books when I cleared mine out it was so satisfying! I just organised my shelf from date added and made way through, took me a while..
Look forward to chatting with! Oh and you should have a look on here if any the fanfic you've read or listed, as many are on gr so I managed to complete last few years challenges primarily with fanfic...

I'm mostly interested in contemporary romance, NA romance, mysteries and I'm willing to try on new sub-genres within romance or anything else.
Recently I had fallen into reading and writing Fanfiction, but now since a few months I've returned to my former love of just reading fiction and that's part of the reason why I joined Goodreads.
Looking forward to making new friends here :)

Realised I've probably never really said much about myself here, so here's a potted history of my reading habits :O)
I'm a voracious reader, I usually read between 30 and 60 books a month, depending on how busy I am. My favourite sub-genres are PNR, Urban Fantasy and Romance Suspense. But I enjoy a bit of Contemporary and Chicklit and the odd historical now and then. I do a lot of challenges so I often find myself reading new authors to finish challenges as I'm a wee bit OCD.
I started reading at 3 years old thanks to my Uncle who bought me books instead of sweets. My first book was a pop up version of Soldier, Soldier Won't you Marry Me that my younger sister destroyed :O( I had my first library card at 4 thanks to my Nan, devoured all the Enid Blyton books by the time I was 7, read every Roald Dahl as soon as it was released (yes I'm that old) and practically all the Nancy Drew by about 8 or 9, then I discovered Agatha Christie, true crime, ghost stories and P.G. Wodehouse at 10! As you can probably guess Matilda by Roald Dahl is my favourite children's book as I related to it so much.
I began reading romance in my thirties when I began to get a bit disenchanted with the horror of Stephen King and Dean Koontz and found myself gravitating more to the personal stories in the Kay Scarapetta and Temperance Brennan series. I got an amazon account, discovered the sub-genre of PNR and Urban Fantasy that was barely represented in my bookstore and never looked back. Before that I was an avid reader of horror, cozy mysteries, classics, crime and suspense and I still enjoy romance genres that cross over here best. My favourite read of all time is still Jane Austen's Persuasion. I fall deeper in love with Anne and Wentworth every time I read it, which is at least once a year
I love to buddy read, but be aware you'll likely get a detailed breakdown on my thoughts if we buddy read together, especially when things annoy me :O). Just drop me a message if you fancy a read of anything on my Buddy/Challenge TBR List - I have all the books already purchased and I'm looking to read them in the next 1-3 months.
My TBR has a life of it's own and even though I regularly read or listen to a few hundred books a year it is constantly growing, damn you Audible, Amazon and my Kindle! When I'm not reading for pleasure I'm editing and proofing technical financial papers and training people how to write for business at work. In my other free time I'm playing with my pooch Dexter, creating art or attempting to write my first PNR - I'm 20,000 words in, but the temptation to read someone else's work is a constant struggle in my free time.

I’ve published my first romance and so I created myself a goodreads account (author account). But I don’t have any friend/person I can chat with, follow, etc. So, please, let me know your goodreads account so I can go and follow you there!
Let’s talk about romance, y’all!
