It's time to vote for our May Classic Selection!

Please select a one book from our Classics Bookshelf and place your nomination here.

Nominations end on the 8th at which point the poll goes up.

Please refer to this shelf of Books Already Read so that we don't nominate previous selections.

Let the nominations begin...

Anneke (annekev) Hi, I'd like to nominate The Sun Also Rises by
Ernest Hemingway . Thanks!

Julia (juliastrimer) I'd like to nominate Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. This edition is just 215 pages, so it fits our criteria :-)

Can this book please be added to our Classics shelf? It would fit under Fantasy also, and I notice that some books are double listed.

Your call, Laura :-)

Julia (juliastrimer) Laura, I withdrew my nomination for A Modest Proposal, and Anneke's nomination of The Sun Also Rises isn't on the poll. Could you update the poll, please? If I can't nominate Something Wicked This Way Comes, I'd like to nominate Gulliver's Travels.

Thanks.

Melanti I was thinking this morning that I think I'm going to read Kidnapped whether or not it wins - especially since I've already read Something Wicked... which seems to be winning at the moment. I just went online to shop for a new audiobook since I finished the one I've been listening to and guess what I see front and center on their recs? That's right. Kidnapped.

It's scary how well Amazon can predict my reading habits sometimes!

I agree, Melanti--have to follow our hearts when choosing what to read, and sometimes that lines up with the goodreads group's choice--and sometimes not. I love what Laura says right at the start of the group: "Active participation is encouraged. But much like desserts and other treats, take what you want and leave the rest. Having fun is mandatory :)"

Thanks for being a great moderator, Laura--and letting us choose our own paths! Kidnapped is calling your name, Melanti--enjoy.

Melanti Oh, I'll discuss Something Wicked... if it wins but I just don't reread much these days... So many books, so little time!

I actually ended up getting The Drowning Girl for now though, since I've been wanting to read it for awhile. I"ll hold off on buying Kidnapped until next month when I have that promotional credit to spend.

Thank you Julia! That means a lot to me. I love seeing what this group has become! We have such good vibes here...uplifting quotes, beautiful word meanings, positive news stories, good books, fun games! All thanks to you and our amazing members!

Colin Flanigan The new TV Show, "Black Sails" on Starz uses some of the characters from Kidnapped and A General History of the Pyrates.
