How do I paste a picture into a comment?

message 105: by Bella (Kiki) (new)

Bella (Kiki) (coloraturabella) | 5386 comments I no longer get notifications, any notifications. Does anyone know what a person is supposed to do about this?

message 106: by Alias Reader (new)

Alias Reader (aliasreader) | 29432 comments Notifications from GoodReads ? I don't get notifications from them.

message 107: by madrano (new)

madrano | 23732 comments The only notifications i get are the bell icon at the top right of my GR screen. I have to click on it. The last one i got was 3 months ago, about someone following my reviews.

I hope that helps, Kiki.

message 108: by Shomeret (new)

Shomeret | 304 comments Go to your profile which you can get to at the icon that represents you at the right hand corner. Click on Account Settings. Then click on e-mails. You can then specify the frequency that you want to be notified.

That's what I mean, the bell icon. Every time someone would post on a thread I was following, I'd get an update. Well, the updates stopped three or four days ago. If you haven't gotten one for three months, then maybe they aren't doing them anymore. I feel kind of lost without it, but I'll get used to it.

Thank you, and thanks to the others who answered me.

Thank you. I don't want to get them in my email, though. Last time I did, I was overwhelmed with email. I'll just look at the discussions on the group site.

Thank you very much.

madrano | 23732 comments Curious, Kiki. I don't believe i've ever gotten notifications about posts that way. It's a neat idea but i cannot find out how to sign up for it. Likely, it's something they've cancelled. Bummer.

message 114: by Alias Reader (new)

Alias Reader (aliasreader) | 29432 comments When I go to the message board, if there are new posts in a thread it's indicated by the color red with the number of new posts. When I finish reading that thread I go to Unread Topics link which I find on the right side of the page right under the Search Discussion Posts box.

Yes. This has been happening about a week.

I've used this GR help link to alert them of the issue a few days ago.

Some of my groups have gotten fixed but others are still showing messages as unread. Hopefully they will be eventually fixed!

message 119: by Alias Reader (new)

Alias Reader (aliasreader) | 29432 comments Julie, it does seem to be partially fixed. I know your thread still shows a ton unread. You can send them a screen shot or copy/past to show them your thread.

I appreciate your patience ! It's annoying for sure.

message 120: by Ron (new)

Ron (ronb626) | 3 comments Not sure if this is where I should ask, but, I'm needing a bit of help with my Kindle. When I open a book, it opens just fine. But, when I close the book, it returns to the same place in the book list that I opened it from. It used to go to the top of the list, but, no longer.

If anyone can offer help, I'd appreciate it. I'm currently reading a book that is on page 108 on my list. I'd really like it to go to the top when I close it, like it used to do. If this isn't the right place for Kindle questions, please, let me know where I should be asking.

message 121: by Alias Reader (new)

Alias Reader (aliasreader) | 29432 comments Ron, I have a Kindle Fire. However, I don't know the answer to your question.

Maybe you can call Amazon.

message 122: by madrano (new)

madrano | 23732 comments Or maybe your library could help. When my husband had problems with his eReader, the staff was quite helpful.

message 123: by Ron (new)

Ron (ronb626) | 3 comments Thank you for the help, Alias Reader and madrano. My library has been helpful in the past, but, the person who has been the most helpful isn't there anymore. Or, at least, she isn't visible to me.

message 124: by Michele (new)

Michele | 629 comments Ron, I have no particular expertise but a LOT of experience with various kindle models. At some point, each one of mine has gone haywire. After trying all the usual stuff (testing it with a different book, turning it off, restarting, and abusing it) I have always assumed that Kindles have a life span and it reached its limit. Pretty much everything does at some point.

Therefore, if my Kindle was consistently misbehaving, I have always gotten a new Kindle. It's annoying, but what can you do?

There are a few things you could try if a new Kindle isn't in your future. You can download your Kindle app to another device you already have, like your computer or tablet, If a defunct Kindle is the problem, you should be able to read anything you've downloaded immediately without glitches, and it should operate just like your Kindle did in the good years. No learning curve.

There is something else you could try. This is not really a long term solution, but if you make a note of the location (loc) or page number when you stop reading, and it opens the next time to the wrong place, you could try hitting the GO TO button. and typing in the correct page or location. I've done that once in a while, but the Kindle eventually stops working anyway.

Please let me know if you find another way to fix it. I would be willing to try it. Good luck
Michele

message 125: by madrano (new)

madrano | 23732 comments Wealth of information there, Michele.

Your point about the life span ending makes sense. I use an iPad and purchased a new one a couple of years ago. It turns out my old one wasn't dying, just slowed down. Last year i thought it was dead, as i couldn't hook that old one up to anything. THEN, almost by magic, i was staying in a place with excellent hook ups and the Internet was back in the life of that machine.

Once i left that place, slow again. So, i began removing apps. It's working like a dream now. BOTTOM LINE: i cannot figure out these machines!

I add all this, unaware of how Kindles work. My brother had an old one, which also had apps, so i thought i would add my iPad experience, just in case.

Actually, all that it took was restarting my Kindle. Thought that I had already tried that, but, either I hadn't or it just needed it one more time.

Thanks for all the help and comments. Next time I have a problem with that Kindle, I now know where I can get some help.
