Ashley-Anne Can someone give me a giant outline or chronology of the series up until this point? Because I've not read all of them, nor am I going to, but there seems to be so many story lines leading up to this and I'd really like to figure out what the heck happened. I HAVE ALREADY READ THIS BOOK. I just want to understand what led up to it.

Misty It's been so many years -I can't remember what happened -honestly. But I will tell you that IMHO, everything written leading up to the novel' Acheron' is what's great about the character, Acheron, and the Dark Hunter series. The previous books are terrific, and they are where you learn to love and appreciate that character. Personally, I am sorry Kenyon wrote his story -it sorta-kinda ruined the series for me. But DO give the previous books a chance. They were a lot of fun to read and I promise you will fall in love with Acheron if you do!

Becky This series is awesome and you really need to read in order to get Acheron's story. The first half of his book is very hard to read due to the horrible treatment, abuse, and how alienated he was just for being born. I loved this book because out of all the characters previously, Acheron deserved a HEA the most!!! He is hot, considerate, he has to make tough decisions that effect not just himself but others and the world as we know it in these books..whole lot of responsibility for one man's shoulders. Acheron is my favorite.

Ashley-Anne Well I have read this one. I've read maybe the first 6.ish, and a few others I didn't love. But I'm just so confused at the different threads

Melanie Ezell I've read several in the series and loved them, and honestly every one is just self-contained enough that following the chronology book-for-book isn't really necessary.

I will say, though, that I wouldn't bother with Acheron, based strictly on personal tastes. I couldn't finish the first half of the book; the characters other than Acheron are cruel or careless to a fault (even the sister,) and the book will repeatedly build you up to feel like something better is just around the corner... only to drop you into an even deeper pit of despair than you were to begin with.

I've heard the second half is much better, but trying to make it through the first half left such a sour taste in my mouth I had to go back and read Night Pleasures to remind myself why I loved the series to begin with. Too much cruelty, too much suffering, too much... pain, just in general, for my tastes.

Becky The first half of Acheron is very hard to read due to the cruelty toward him, but it does explain.why he is the way he is. The second half is well worth reading again and again. I will say once I got thru the first half I will never reread it. Stick with it you'll be happy you did when Acheron gets his HEA.. spoiler when he sings Savin me by Nickleback wow so friggin HOT

Ashley-Anne I've read it. the book has been read. twice. I want to know how the other stories lead up to it without having to read #7-13

Leslie It's really hard to put all the previous story in a summary. I do agree, you love Ash much more because of the other characters.

His story by itself was great, I didn't love Tori for him, I thought he needed a different type of woman but the past was well written out. Again, you just understand and appreciate him more from the other books. You understand his actions and thoughts.

I also didn't continue with the series after his book. For me, that was enough to end it. Although I did want to read more on Nick but not enough to continue on.
