On page 206 Bella states, "I was slowly realizing that vampires were much bigger participants in this world than I'd once thought." This makes me think of Screwtape Letters. The demons strategy was to go unnoticed. This is also the vampires strategy. Their weapon is their invisibility, figuratively, to humans. They strike the humans who are completely oblivious to them. This makes me think that Meyer is using vampires to represent something bigger than I have been assuming. I am beginning to think that there is a kind of Yin and Yang balance going on in the Twilight series. The Cullen family is the little bit of good in the evil world of vampires. The good and bad coexist peacefully most of the time so far. On an even smaller level, I feel like good and evil coexist in both Edward and Bella. Edward is constantly fighting the evil vampire side to him while Bella has a side to her that is intrigued by the dark. I think that is one of the reasons why Edward and Bella are so attracted to each other.
