Her law career tanked by the Great Recession, she failed miserably as a desperate housewife in the Silicon Valley. Playing beat-the-clock with her 30-something hormones for 3 long years her final reward was a little baby fat, but no baby. The final blow, though, was walking in on her husband in bed with a well-known Hollywood blond.
The Rancho Mirage home where she grew up, surrounded by the beauty of the desert resort town near Palm Springs, seems the perfect place to take refuge. That is until her best friend's husband is murdered. Jessica and her friends are soon swept into the fray, stalked by scoundrels in pantyhose, stilettos, Bruno Maglis, and Armani suits. Roger Stone had something that got him killed. What was it and to what lengths will they go to get it back?

Jason Chapman | 33 comments Hello,
I am looking for a new audience for a book series I launched in 2012.
Set in Great Britain during the 1950 The Angel Committee is about a Cambridge physicist who is asked by Winston Churchill to look into a spate of UFO sightings. The book is very much a cold war science fiction spy thriller set against the backdrop of cold war paranoia.
I came up with the story when I found out that Winston Churchill actually wrote a memo in 1952 expressing his concern regarding flying saucers
.
‘What do all this stuff about flying saucers amount to, what can it mean, what is the truth? Let me have a report at your convenience.’
At the time a group known as The Flying Saucer Working Party operated within the British Government and investigated UFO sightings across the UK. I thought it would make a good story for a one off novel. However as I neared the end I thought that it would make a good book series. I am releasing the sequel in the summer and the third part next year. I am also planning another trilogy of novels set in the 1960s.
The X Files and Dark Skies were big in their day, so I am hoping to revive this kind of conspiracy genre in book form. The Angel Committee has been given rave reviews on both sides of the Atlantic and is available on Amazon.

Many thanks

Gerard Cappa Black Boat Dancing (Con Maknazpy 2) by Gerard Cappa

The new Maknazpy thriller.

The new cold war is heating up - pump primed by oil and the race to control the pipelines. Cyber warriors mine the dark side of international finance to destabilize 'enemy' governments. Their money trail stretches from Macau and New York to Rio de Janeiro, Cyprus, Beirut and Odessa, and the finance lines of governments and gangsters criss cross through Ukraine and Crimea.

When Jorginho the Black Hat hacker goes AWOL in Portugal with the secrets of America's role in the Arab Spring rebellions, Maknazpy is enlisted to bring him back - dead or alive.
Maknazpy tracks the runaway through the narrow streets of old Lisbon until he is betrayed and the hunter becomes the hunted.
Juggling a hot money scam and cold war treachery, Maknazpy keeps one step ahead of his own US handlers, Chinese Military Intelligence, the Russian Mafia and a Brazilian street gang. But this time he is weak.
Subjected to scrambled mind games and capricious illusions, Maknazpy freefalls into a crisis of identity that threatens to choke his will to go on - unless he can scrape enough faith to scourge deep into his dark soul for that rugged core of self belief and self knowledge that has lain dormant for so long.

Then he might remember what it means to believe, to hope, even to trust. Maknazpy is starting all over again.

Reviews for Maknazpy 1 - Blood from a Shadow

"He aims at a diverse readership. One that demands a page-turning violent saga, and another that savors a more polished gloss" - Prof JL Murphy, Los Angeles - Amazon Top 500

"Based on this fast-paced intricate thriller Gerard Cappa deserves elevation to the top rank of thriller writers." - Scott Parsons, Ottawa

"This kind of talent is something seen in the great and famous writers around the world, and Cappa is a great writer." - Dragonmount Books, Brazil

"Attempts a new approach to the conspiracy action thriller, but even read on this surface level alone, it's written in a way that delivers thrills without insulting your intelligence." Keris Nine, Amazon Top 500

"Very strong characters and beautifully written Conspiracy Thriller" - Duygo Altinok, Istanbul

"This was a great story with lovely prose, if that sort of violence can be lovely." - Linda Rowland, Texas

"Displays a commendable ruthlessness: unlike many thrillers, this one treats the death of innocents as considerably more than a plot motor, and we are never allowed to forget that being injured hurts and that redemption comes at a price." - Philip Challinor, London

"Distinctively drawn and interesting characters, fast-paced with a super abundance of sub-plots, story line twists, and gritty violence to satisfy any aficionado of the genre" - Joseph Haschka, California, Amazon Top 500 Reviewer

Scott Parsons | 34 comments The comment by Ade is very much on the mark. Amazon is in a major fight with Hachette and other publishers and are squeezing publishers and authors to a point where it becomes unprofitable. Stephen Colbert brought this up on the Colbert Report and succeeded in getting a book named California onto the NY Times bestseller list by asking viewers to purchase it through independents. More power to those who are trying to flog their own books, the products of much love and labour.

Robert Raker (robert_raker) | 59 comments Just received a tremendous review from Rick Schindler, culture critic and author of "Fandemonium" about my book ENTROPY:

“In thermodynamics, entropy is unusable energy; in literature and popular culture, it has become a metaphor for inexorable decay and disorder. It is the title of one of Thomas Pynchon’s earliest stories and a motif in some of his most emblematic works, including The Crying of Lot 49 and Gravity’s Rainbow. And it is also the title and motif of an elegiac crime novel by Robert Raker.

Entropy revolves around a series of grisly child murders in a woebegone region of Pennsylvania. Raker excels at painting its dismal landscape: a once-thriving farm reduced to mire by a blinding rainstorm; a neglected swimming pool in which a small body floats; a sweltering bus.

He is similarly adept at delineating the desolate hearts of the four narrators who tell his tale in turn, in fractured chronology redolent of Joseph Conrad: the diver contracted by police to retrieve the victims’ bodies, a man more comfortable immersed in water than in the mainstream of life; a musician marred by more than the loss of an arm; an undercover agent corrupted by the criminal identities he must assume, and an artist’s model numbed by tragedy and betrayal.

À la film noir, there are no heroes in Entropy to solve the case and save the day; just tormented souls grasping in vain for happiness and human connection. And they are connected, but only like flies caught in the same web. The complex pattern of that web becomes fully apparent only at this compelling novel’s cathartic climax.”

An historical thriller based in the American Revolution. Young Jonathan E. Lee is falsely accused of heinous war crimes by his treacherous regimental commander! Jonathan is forced to flee the colonies to save his neck from the hangman's noose, fighting his way across a stormy Atlantic and then joining a mercenary army that is deploying to warring Siam, a kingdom that is squirming under the iron-fist of a madman.

Greetings! I am Dr. Leonardo Noto, a former military battalion surgeon. The idea for "The Life of a Colonial Fugitive" was born out of my passion for American military history and my enthusiasm for the sport of muay Thai (Thai boxing). While training in a Thai boxing camp during the days and working on a novel based in the American Revolution during the nights, I noticed that Thai history during the 1780s was as turbulent as the American history of the period. After two years of detailed research, including nearly forty references, "The Life of a Colonial Fugitive" was born. I hope that you enjoy reading my novel as much as I enjoyed writing it!
