It made me question what gives human life value and how some people loose sight of the value of human life like most of the vampires do. I believe the biggest factor that made Jasper choose to be a "vegetarian" vampire is because he can connect with human emotion and he did when he was killing humans. It is really eerie once you think about it. Jasper even admits, "In so many years of slaughter and carnage, I'd lost nearly all of my humanity" (300). This shows that Jasper values humanity because he views it as something that would be devastating to loose. I think emotions and feelings are taken for granted. most people take them so lightly, but really they are such a major part of humanity. In fact, emotions are what give humanity value. Love, even though it is not completely an emotional thing, makes humanity what God envisioned it to be. Without love and empathy for others humanity looses its value. That is why killers are often said to not be able to feel love. Jasper felt everything that his human's felt, including love. That is why I am so amazed that he was ever able to kill anyone.
