Spencer | 18 comments At the very end of chapter 15, Wager, Bella begins to question her decision to become a vampire. On page 345 she asks herself, "Was there a human experience that I was not willing to give up?" This is one of very few times that she pauses to really think about her literally eternal decision. The human experiences that would be taken away from her if she were to become a vampire are really major things. She would have to let go a lot including eating, sleeping, staying in touch with her friends and family, and having children of her own. I find myself asking why she would let go of all of this for a guy who she knows almost superficially. She is just infatuated with him. It makes me wonder what point Meyer is trying to make. It almost seems like a satire of young love to me. It is like she is making a mockery of the attitude that young couples have. They all seem willing to die for one another in a heart beat, but they are hesitant to marry one another. There are so many theories of what exactly Meyer is saying through her series, but at this point it almost seems like a joke.
