Ready Player One
question
Which was better Audio or Paperback

Unlike many people I am sure I have both read and listened to Ready Player One (multiple times) I loved the audio book version so much that I have listened to it twice. I was given the book itself for Christmas a few years ago and then devoured it again. I found a fun way to appreciate the book that I have seen some people complain about. The meat of the book which is 80's pop culture went over my head in many places, while the writing style leant itself to a young adult reader. I am was born in 85 so I get some but not a lot of the things brought up in this book. I found it very easy to read and enjoy though and when it came to something from the 80's I was unfamilar with I went to my parents to my grandparents and we talked about these things. In this way the book gave me a connection to my family I had not explored yet and also by doing this I got several of them to read the book as well.

The audio added a lot to the text. Wheaton was a great narrator and it was hilarious when he mentions himself. It was a very cool "meta" moment. I was born in '82 so I was in the same boat as you when it came to some of the references going over my head. But it did not really interfere with my enjoyment of the book at all.

I got the audiobook, once I heard Wil Wheaton was narrating. I was born in 72, so all these references seemed to stem from my childhood, which was fantastic. "Dogs and cats, living together! Mass hysteria!" GHOSTBUSTERS 1984. That reference was on page 2 and I knew right then I was hooked.
Gary Welch
Like Rich and Tammy, straight from my childhood also. I have read it and listen to it, both are great.

Audio book. Just loved it and Wheaton nailed it. Would listen to it again.
Wheaton was great at reading. The only thing that was annoying about the audiobook was a text conversation where wheaton had to read the senders name before each line of dialogue. It lasted a solid 4min but that was it. Id reccomend the audiobook
The answer is always the book is better ;) but Will did a great job of reading it to us.
I laughed when Will Wheaton chuckled a little when his name was mentioned in book! Why not both!I'm reading paperback while I'm listening to audiobook! It's fun! Also I'm learning English!
i didn't learn till a few years back that once i finished a book, much of it was lost to my memory, i could finish a page and then not remember what i had just read unless it was plot driven.
however then i started to listen to audio books and my reading experience was enhanced ten fold. its not to say that everyone should listen to a book instead of reading it but i found it much easier and i was able to listen will doing tasks such as cleaning or driving to and from work.
p.s i do enjoy finishing an audio book and if i like it i will buy the paper edition so i can lend it out to others i think would enjoy it.

1st time: Book (March 2014)
2nd time: Audiobook (October 2014)
3rd time: Audiobook (December 2014)
I liked both very much. The audiobook is less time-consuming. Wil Wheaton's narration is really something!
