Aki | 4 comments Okay. I came to the only place on Goodreads that has a proven track record of locating information quickly and accurately. So. I watched this show last night called Cold Case and they had an episode called 'Best Friends'on which included several poems. I've google, yahooed and aol-ed these poems to death and can not locate either the titles or the authors. Here are some excerpts, if anyone can help me locate any information I would soooo appreciate it!

Kind Regards,

Aki

1.

Sent that girl away a night ago,
and don't she know it's been ashes
Sent her away and
don't she know it ache
Heart of mine, throat of smoke,
I sent a girl away and
it's been hell opened up,
working on my skin
till it be bone.

2.

Those three words I have never heard together,
before you made them in your mouth,
chewed them soft like sugar cane,
polished them with your tongue,
gave them to me sweet, and I swore I'd never get them lost.
Is it how I can't find sleep, or get fed, this thing you said?
Is it how my heart grows at the sight of you?
Then, baby, yes,
I love you, too.

3.

Tired, nickel-colored night
You can take my blood and keep it,
I ain't need it no more,
use my broken teeth to pave your street,
my splintered bones stomped for sand,
if this lead-footed man should once again leave me dead,
my body broken,
my soul would find a way,
oh, night, to dance with his girl again.

4.

I came up from the dark without you
and every day has been in shadow.
I have begged the tide to wash away my sin
and take me to you in the dark
but every day I surface again.
but in the spring, I am betrayed by the new earth
with you in my heart, I am born again a green bud,
I am born again blooming.

Thanks!

Zing (jeniferholly) | 23 comments Since every movie and tv website I looked at (including IMBD)cedits only one person for the writing, my bet is that poems were written by that writer.

If a TV show or movie uses anything witten by someone else the writer must be credited, otherwise it's plagarism - there is nothing in the credits about a seperate athor of the poems in this episode on any of the major tv/movie databases, though. Also, from what I read, the content of the poems in the episode were relavent to the plot, which also strengthens my belief that the poems were written for the show.

The writer on that episode is Liz Garcia. She is also billed as Liz W. Garcia on some websites.

Sena Public (senaqpublic) | 14 comments is that the episode with the young black and white girls in the 1940's (or thereabouts)? when i saw that i had the impression that the poems were written for the show. they definitely sound like they were written by the same person.

...and, as the commenter above says, no outside credits. you're probably safe assuming the writer of the episode is the author. if you're looking for the complete text of the poems, however, you might have more trouble.
