Calathea | 6034 comments Dear Fanyons and coloring afficionados,
a week ago Love is a Many-Colored Thing was published, the coloring book with awesome illustrations by our very own Johanna, inspired by Josh's stories. The drawings are accompanied by text passages from the books they belong to.

We'll have a small launch party for this here on Friday. So sharpen your color pencils and bring them with you when we have a very colorful party! And maybe, just maybe you can win something colorful too. :-)

Thank you for setting up this topic, dear Calathea! I've already sharpened my colored pencils and tried them on Lone Star picture. (The reindeer says "hi", by the way!)

description

If you wish to try this one yourself Josh offers it free for download on her
December 2nd Advent Calendar blog post.

Take it away, friends!

And see you here on Friday! Like Calathea promised, there will be colorful prizes!!!

Sabine | 3041 comments Wonderful! We see us Friday!

We can't have a coloring party without crayons! I'm glad you'll bring yours! :-)

Sara (hambel) | 1439 comments I've got some pencils somewhere that double as water colours. I'd better dig them out.

Sara (hambel) | 1439 comments And yay for parties! I'll be a little late as I'm working that evening but I've got no excuse not to bring a bottle to the party ;)

Kirsten | 695 comments Ha! I don't have the book yet (Wonder if I can convince my library to get it?) but I can't resist a party. :D

message 10: by Goge (new) - rated it 5 stars

I've got this on my Christmas gift cart for myself, which I will be ordering tomorrow! I decided that this beautiful coloring book and the Nutcracker music cd was a great idea for myself this year. :-)

I bought some really nice Prismacolor colored pencils awhile back, so I'll be using those. But I do have to say that Johanna's blending and shading looks so pretty compared to anything I could do!

Hey, every style is equally right in coloring. And the best thing is that you don't even have to stay between the lines! :-)

Exactly my thoughts... :-) I cannot decide what's more beautiful, the rainbow stars or the new banner with the cool blue-green shells! It's very inspiring.

message 15: by Haldis (new)

Haldis | 1288 comments I spent last night coloring. I used colored pens since i just printed out the page i wasn't worried about bleed-through. As for the book, I'll get pencils.

message 16: by Jacquie (new)

Jacquie (jacquie1) | 32 comments I haven't received my book yet. I'm patiently waiting on the post office to deliver it. I enjoy colouring and do it most days. I have 4 books I colour from and Love is.... will be my fifth. I also use an assortment of pencil crayons from Crayola to Prisma brands and house brands in between.

Johanna, I love the Lone Star picture and l look forward to seeing the rest of your pictures.

Calathea | 6034 comments Are your pencils sharpened? Your crayolas lined up? Your water colors at the ready?

Then let's start the most colorful launch parties this group has ever seen! :-D

Love is a Many-Colored Thing by Josh Lanyon Love is a Many-Colored Thing was published last week and some of you are already coloring away. How are you guys doing? Are the blue-ish pencils getting too short to hold?

So, to get you in the mood of partying, here's a little task for you:

Go to this online-coloring page and color the mandala in the shades that represent the mood you want this party to be. When you're finished click on "Done" and copy and past the code from the bottom of the page to a comment here in this topic.

Alternatively or additionally answer Johanna's (who has drawn all the lovely drawings in the book) question: "You're buying a sweater as a Christmas present for one of Josh's characters. Who are you buying it for, what color would the sweater be and does it have any patterns or design?"

There are prizes to be won. We're going to draw the winners randomly on Sunday (European) evening, so you've got roughly two days of time. What you can win, you ask?

1 set of coloring pencils
1 copy Love is a Many-Colored Thing
1 set of both, coloring pencils and Love is a Many-Colored Thing

Now, no more hesitating, color away! :D

message 23: by Haldis (new)

Haldis | 1288 comments Half way through my coloring, the color palette disappeared. :-(
I'll have to try again later, but in the meantime, I would like to present a lovely sweater to Kit in royal blue with poinsettias, holly and ivy on the border and a single cat on the front with a big red ribbon around its neck and a bell sewn on so it jingles when he moves. I'm sure he will love it.

Josephine (jojiemon_) | 225 comments Not sure how I did, but I enjoyed this. Very much! <3

But really, I'm amazed how different the same mandala looks with different coloring. Fascinating!

A bit wintery but with the strong pulse and the dark red of glowing embers in it's heart, yes? We just need to fan it a bit in it will light up the colorful party with a bright light. As will you. :)
