Jacci (jaccit) | 50 comments I wanted you all to know that I used Audible to get The Cage onto an audio book and it was a great experience. They have two options, you either pay the producer (voice talent) up front per finished hour, or you find one willing to split profits 50/50. I'm not a well known author but because I have a lot of five star reviews I found a great reader that was willing to take a risk on me. His name is Scott Pollack and he did the book in a timely manner and was super easy to work with. It's up on Amazon, Audible and Itunes!

Rhoda D'Ettore (RhodaDEttore) | 73 comments I have two in production also! I read on a NYT list that a writer should put all their books on audio.. not only does it expand your audience, but it gives you credibility. It was super easy to do, because as an author, our work is already done. All I did was listen, and put up the cover. Then I separated the ebook into chapters --- to be like short stories, and attached a blurb about "if you like this, and want to hear more, order the full book". It worked with my ebooks when I split it up, so I figured it would work with this.

Jacci (jaccit) | 50 comments So Rhonda, you only put up chapters and not whole books?

Rossandra White (goodreadscomrossandra_white) | 7 comments I'd like to create an audio book of my memoir, reading it myself. Must say I'm not totally thrilled with the idea but as it takes place on two continents and involves two cultures, my accent would be an enhancement. Anybody know anything about how to go about something like this?

My book, 10 Shades of Blush: The Softer Side of Kink, is a collection of 8 different women's fantasies, and 2 chapters of improving sexual relations. The entire book is pending approval, yet, I broke the ebook down into five "short" ebooks of two chapters each. The audio is already done anyway. That way, someone might pay a few dollars for the one, then really like it and get the larger book.

Another book, The Creek: Where Stories of the Past Come Alive, consists of three short stories that all take place in the same location---but at different time periods. The fourth part of the book ties it together as the children in the present day are seeing the ghosts of the characters from earlier in the book. Because of this, i was able to do the same. The short stories went up on ebook for $1 a piece, and each one advertised the whole book--- once the audio is finished on that, i can once again put three up as short stories-- the fourth part wouldn't make sense as it relies on the earlier stories for foundation.

I had considered doing it myself, but my narrator told me that ACX even considers the rain background noise, and that the equipment can pick it up. On two tracks, ACX denied it, and made her redo--claiming background noise... im telling you.. there was nothing there. It seems really aggravating to me. Not that I would not try it and see how it works out. but the way it is working, while she is recording, im writing the next book. by the time she is finished, I am finished. So we are working well together right now!

Jacci (jaccit) | 50 comments Thanks ladies, ACX lets you do your own but you need to have good equipment and a closet to muffle sound.
