What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Detective who is released from Los Angeles Police Dept. He is offered a job by a friend in Louisiana? His brother is a Priest and is the father of the daughter the detective is raising. The mother of his daughter is killed supposedly in a car accident. This is a series that continues through several books.

I think this is one of the Lisa Jackson books....sounds familiar.
