Andrea Jackson (paperbackdiva) Along with a bunch of other readers, I'm starving for paranormal and sf books with more diverse characters. Skin color, background, ages, classes.

I'd love to hear your recommendations.

Elizabeth Armstrong | 1 comments HI Andrea,

This is a pretty old post so you may not be interested anymore but since I was actually searching for the same thing I thought I'd share what I've found in the hope that someone else might add a few more good choices. It shifts a bit across the paranormal spectrum from Urban Fantasy to heading towards steam punk but I've really enjoyed them all and there is not a barely post-teens bombshell whose great at everything in sight. There's even a few guys and British people.

Soulless (Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger
Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs
Rosemary and Rue (October Daye #1) by Seanan McGuire
Storm Front (The Dresden Files, #1) by Jim Butcher
Midnight Riot (Peter Grant, #1) by Ben Aaronovitch
Losing it by Elizabeth Armstrong
The last ones mine so feel free to tell me if I've hit the mark or not. Definitely try the ones above though.

Now hopefully over to someone else.
