Jim | 21809 comments well clicking on the link to your reviews page gives 'page not found' which is never helpful

Assuming your reviews are not the result of having a large and doting family, and I see no reason to make that assumption, most people struggle to get 5% of their readers to review. So if the statistic holds good for you then you've sold 8000 books in two years.
For an independent writer that is a pretty solid success
Obviously markets for genre are different but if in Fantasy you could sell a 65 page book for just under a fiver,we'd all be coming to sit at your feet to listen to how you did it :-)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments I don't know of any shortcuts to getting people to read a self-published book. It takes time and patience and a lot of hard work to build up a readership.

The best place I know for general advice is a website called absolutewrite.com. They have a subforum for self-publishing which has a mountain of good advice:

http://absolutewrite.com/forums/forum...

I would start with the stickies (the posts at the top) and then if you have the stamina, work your way through the individual threads.

If you don't mind, I'm not going to look at your amazon account. I'm in a bit of a rush this morning and it smacks ever so slightly of spam. But if you genuinely want to find out how to increase sales, I can think of no better resource than absolutewrite.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Posting your email address as you have is going to attract spambots. I suggest at least changing the @ to (at).

Will and Jim, you're lovely.

You should charge for your services.

Ethan Fox (by_ethan_fox) | 30 comments Stanley, something worth asking is that you say sales are "low", but it's unclear what you mean by that.

For instance, it's often said that the majority of Kindle fiction books sell less than 100 copies. However, even taking the number 100 into account - that might be little for a career author, but a lot to a hobbyist.

If you gave us some idea of the sales you're seeing, it might help us advise you.

However, do remember that discoverability on Amazon (i.e. getting people to know about your book) is just as difficult as becoming a YouTube celebrity or releasing a successful game for the iPad. You can make all of the right moves and still fail :S
