2: How many times have you seen the movie? Just once. And I watched it so I could read the book for this category!! I had the movie saved on my hard drive and the book on my kindle, so a good chance to knock both off! I'm keen to watch it again after reading the book though.

3: Did you know about the book before or after you saw the movie? Before, I got the book first.

4: Why haven't you already read this book?!?!?!
Too many books to read, not enough time!

5: Do you hope the book expands on certain aspects of the movie that you wish had more details?
I can't remember the book in that much detail actually.

Melitta Jackson (themidnightlibrarian) | 50 comments 1: What are you reading this week?
Coraline by Neil Gaiman

2: How many times have you seen the movie?
I watch it every other week since I was able to snag it on dvd.

3: Did you know about the book before or after you saw the movie?
Nope, it wasn't until I saw the play that I realized it was a book.

4: Why haven't you already read this book?!?!?!
I wasn't as into reading at the time.

5: Do you hope the book expands on certain aspects of the movie that you wish had more details?

Yes and no. I actually loved the movie, but they had changed it up a bunch from the book that it was going to be interesting to see what Gaimann expanded on in the book.

Michelle (girlvsbook) | 1173 comments What are you reading this week? I read Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion

How many times have you seen the movie? I've only watched it once. I liked it.

Did you know about the book before or after you saw the movie? I didn't know about the book until I saw the movie.

Why haven't you already read this book? Meh, I don't know. Zombie books aren't exactly my thing but the movie was light and humor-filled (for a zombie flick) so I thought this would be more my style.

Do you hope the book expands on certain aspects of the movie that you wish had more details? The book and movie differ. The book isn't really funny. I was surprised by how thought-provoking it was.

Hallowe'en Party by Agatha Christie

2: How many times have you seen the movie?
Once or twice.

3: Did you know about the book before or after you saw the movie?
Before, since it's an Agatha Christie book.

4: Why haven't you already read this book?!?!?!
So many books, so little time...

5: Do you hope the book expands on certain aspects of the movie that you wish had more details?
Yes, I wouldn't want it to be the same as the movie.

Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King

I only saw the movie once

No I didn't know about the book before I saw the movie

I never think of reading the book if I've seen the movie or vice verse, there r so many storied to go around, and living through them in one form is usually good enough for me.

I think the book was great, amazing, it's a short story and the characters r great, the voice is so colorful. The movie I didn't enjoy much, but I saw it a long time ago.

Babe: The Gallant Pig
2: How many times have you seen the movie?
3
3: Did you know about the book before or after you saw the movie?
After
4: Why haven't you already read this book?!?!?!
I didn't know there WAS a book until this challenge (it's also a Rory Gilmore book)
5: Do you hope the book expands on certain aspects of the movie that you wish had more details?
Not really, I expect the book will be better because I saw the movie!!

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) 1: What are you reading this week?
Pet Sematary by Stephen King

2: How many times have you seen the movie?
1 time

3: Did you know about the book before or after you saw the movie?
No

4: Why haven't you already read this book?!?!?!
I have been slowly working on Stephen King books and finally got this one.

5: Do you hope the book expands on certain aspects of the movie that you wish had more details?
From what I remember of the movie, it covered the book very well. Of course I haven't seen the movie since I was a lot younger.

message 60: by Susan (new)

Susan I read Biloxi Blues. This is really a play than a book per se. I don't think I knew it was a play/book before I watched it. I just liked movies with Mathew Broderick.

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments 1: What are you reading this week?
Les Misérables by Victor Hugo.

2: How many times have you seen the movie?
Just the once, but I absolutely loved it. It's just a little emotionally draining.

3: Did you know about the book before or after you saw the movie?
Before.

4: Why haven't you already read this book?!?!?!
Because it's almost 1500 pages long! :) Although thankfully my abridged version is a tiny (?) 896 pages. I learned from The Hunchback of Notre-Dame how much Hugo loved his detail, so I'm sure that I can skip those 600 pages without missing too much.

5: Do you hope the book expands on certain aspects of the movie that you wish had more details?
I'm sure there will be plenty of detail in the book, whether I want it or not. :) I feel the book experience will be completely different to the movie. I don't think any of the characters will burst into song, for one thing.

Amy Poe | 12 comments 1: What are you reading this week?
A Ghost in Monte Carlo by Barbara Cartland

2: How many times have you seen the movie?
6-7 times

3: Did you know about the book before or after you saw the movie?
I'm pleading bad memory here, since I originally saw this several decades ago.

4: Why haven't you already read this book?!?!?!
It's been many years since I read a Barbara Cartland book and since I was having trouble finding a book to fit this challenge, I decided to be nostalgic.

5: Do you hope the book expands on certain aspects of the movie that you wish had more details?
Well, I think that is always a hope in these type of books. In this case however, I have to say that the movie tightened up the plot, improved on the drama and had a better sense of timing than the book.

message 63: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 539 comments 1: What are you reading this week?
Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks

2: How many times have you seen the movie?
I would say 5 or 6 times for sure.

3: Did you know about the book before or after you saw the movie?
Oh it was definitely after I saw the movie. I think it was a few years after that I saw it on a list of books.

4: Why haven't you already read this book?!?!?!
Because I didn't know it was a book till recently and this is only my second book I have ever read by by Nicholas Sparks. I read The Notebook for last years challenge.

5: Do you hope the book expands on certain aspects of the movie that you wish had more details?
Since I am answering this one after I finished the book I know that the book does expand on some of the things in the movie. In a good way in my opinion.

Water for Elephants

2: How many times have you seen the movie? Just once

3: Did you know about the book before or after you saw the movie? After

4: Why haven't you already read this book?!?!?!After I saw the movie, I bought the book and its fate was the same that all the books I own: Wait for me to finish those from the library :(

5: Do you hope the book expands on certain aspects of the movie that you wish had more details? I already finished it, and maybe it expands some aspects, but I actually don't remember the movie very well; however I am pretty sure that some things were different.

Monique | 66 comments What are you reading this week?
Bridget Jones's Diary (Bridget Jones #1) by Helen Fielding

How many times have you seen the movie?
Since it seems to be on at Christmas time every year, I've probably seen it a fair amount of times.

Did you know about the book before or after you saw the movie?
After I saw the movie quite a few times.

Why haven't you already read this book?!?!?!
It never really appealed to me. But I struggled to think of a book for this challenge and its one I have on kindle so it fit the bill.

Do you hope the book expands on certain aspects of the movie that you wish had more details?
Not really.
