*In the Name of Jesus: A beautiful, brief book about humility. The book has some weaknesses, but was incredibly formative in a season of my life when I was battling pride.
*The Meaning of Marriage: A foundational book about marriage and relationships as a whole. Does a beautiful job of grounding marriage and singleness in the Bible without veering into extra-Biblical territory.
*Searching for Sunday: I don't agree with Evans on several points. But this book helped me make sense of my evangelical church and youth group experience, and gave me a framework to understand why I view faith the way I do now.

Growth of a Soul is a great idea. I've put that in the "book by or about a missionary" category.

I am smiling at your post, because "For the Children's Sake" came to mind IMMEDIATELY, when I saw this category. The thing is, I read it in the mid-1980s!!! So glad to know it is still impacting hearts and lives

One Minute After You Die by Erwin Lutzer
Putting Amazing Back into Grace by Michael Horton
Chosen by God by R.C. Sproul
I read these four books one summer, and I'm not sure which was the most life-changing, but, combined--wow, what a difference! It was like hearing the gospel for the first time, finally beginning to grasp the amazing-ness of grace and what Christ did for me. Learning about doctrines/concepts like justification and imputation and propitiation and the like...it was WOW.

This book is fantastic!! I've read it at least 4 times...and I'm probably due to read it again.
