Thanks Cynthia!

You could read Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret by Judy Blume... It was cute!

You could read [book:Are Y..."
Thanks Sara! I'll try that one instead :)

My question involves this task:
1. ROSEANN'S TASK - Your Job/Dream Job Challenge - First Read A Book That Is Somehow Related To Your Current Profession (Students Count) AND Then Read A Book That Is Related To Either Your Current Or Childhood Dream Job. The Books Can Either Have A Character Or Setting That Relates To That Job.
Question: What if you are currently unemployed and probably will be so at least through the end of the year? I'll be going back to school in January if everything works out. Should I pick with my prior profession? Or are there some books out there about a character who is unemployed?

I'm in the same boat. I believe Cynthia said either would work. I'm going to read Help Wanted, Desperately by Ariel Horn, I think. Except I just noticed that the reviews aren't so hot... under 3 stars, average? Hmmm.... I read a book about engineering two challenges ago, and thought I'd try something else... Engineers just aren't that exciting, believe it or not! ;) I suppose I could read a book of Dilbert comics.......
Other books about unemployed people:
*Tales Of A Drama Queen by Lee Nichols
*A Risk Worth Taking by Robin Pilcher
*Perfect Circle by Sean Stewart
*An Ex to Grind: A Novel by Jane Heller
*The Last Refuge by Chris Knopf
*Ain't No Valley: A Novel by Sharon Ewell Foster
*The Florabama Ladies' Auxiliary & Sewing Circle by Lois Battle
*Bitter is the New Black: Confessions of a Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smartass, Or, Why You Should Never Carry A Prada Bag to the Unemployment Office by Jen Lancaster
*Undead and Unemployed by MaryJanice Davidson (which is book 2 in the series... she loses her job at the beginning of book 1 (Undead and Unwed) though, so you could read the first one instead of the second.)
This is the most random list of books I've ever put together...

Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster is also a book about an unemployed gal. And really quite funny.

Thank you, Sara and Rita! I really appreciate the info. I'll see what the public library has as well. It would have taken me forever to figure out what books would fall under the unemployed genre. And since you both mention Bitter is the New Black, I'll see if I can find that one. I'd like to read something funny.
Though at second look, the Undead and Unwed book looks pretty good as I like this type of fantasy type story and looks like I can get it from the library too... Great list. Thanks again!

Kim, I'm not the official okay-er, but I read that book and think it would be a great choice.

I'm being pretty open about that task - just explain how it relates to what you are thankful for when you post

Undead and Unwed IS stereotypical chick-lit, just so you know. Don't expect a deep and thought-provoking read. It's a cute, but silly book about a material woman who gets turned into a vampire. I loved it, but it was definitely fluff-city!

Also under the halloween task would brewing work or is that a stretch also?

" Pretties works but brewing not so much

That's good to know about it being "chic-lit." It might be a nice change. Haven't really read that type of thing in ages. Thanks!

I think they both work. Bastard Out of Carolina is good, but hard to read at times (emotionally).

Yes

would Winnie-the-Pooh count for 10.3 since it is about a bear?

edit: Would it fit better here? DIANE'S TASK - September Is Self-Improvement Month.
•Read A Nonfiction Self-Improvement Or Self-Help Book.
AND
• Read A Book In Which The Main Character Undergoes A Significant Positive Change In His Or Her Life As A Result Of Self-Improvement (Can Be Fiction Or Nonfiction).
And while I'm asking, for 5.6 challenge: Terrifying Titles - Read A Novel That Has An Adjective In The Title That Relates To Halloween...I.E. Spooky, Creepy, Crawly, Scary etc. would Darkly Dreaming Dexter be acceptable for this?

I loved this book... it is terribly sad, but it was one of my favorites when I was a teen. I would like to re-read it!!!

Also, for Terryfying Titles, would Book of Shadows work? 'Shadows' being the operative word.

Also, for Terryfying Titles, would Book of Shadows work? 'Sh..." No to both of those I'm afraid - children is part of the series title but not the title of the book itself, and shadows is not an adjective but a noun.

The word bear needs to be a part of the title, so I'm not sure it would qualify as it also does not necessarily qualify as a children's book since it's a chapter book.

This question is for this task: 5. JANICE'S TASK - Fortune Telling Has Long Been A Halloween Tradition: Read A Book With "Fortune" Or "Prophecy" In The Title, OR That Features Fortune-Telling, Prophecy Or Prediction(s) As The Main Theme Or Has A Fortune Teller As A Main Character.
Can I use Charlie Bone and the Time Twister? The main character, Charlie Bone can hear voices in pictures. Or would it be better to use for the Time Traveling challenge instead?

Unless Charlie is actually making predictions based on what the voices are telling him, better that you use this one for the Time Travelling challenge.
Perhaps you could read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which involves the finding of the actual prophecy on which the series hinges, or The Celestine Prophecy, which has "prophecy" in the title, or something similar for 25.5.

His "gift" or endowment is to converse and "visit" people contained within photographs or paintings. This particular book is about a boy who travels back from 1916 via a marble to current day. So I'll go with time travel.
Thanks for the suggestion about Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I've read it before (well, listened to it on CD--love Jim Dale narrating!). I'll have to see how time allows for re-reading, or I may try something new with The Celestine Prophecy. It sounds really interesting. However, I thought of another one and just posted my question over there. Thank you again :)

I'm a student. Would Mort work? Or is being Death's Apprentice more of a job? ^___^
If it doesn't work, it's fine. Just another reason for me to re-read Harry Potter >w<

You might want to post this question on Roseann's Task Help thread. She's probably more likely to see it there. It's in the 'Task Help' section. Here's a link to the thread.

For the let's get physical task can I read Speed Addicts since it is about many Formula One drivers and the history of the sport and then watch a race? Or I could read The Grand Prix Saboteurs which is about the formula one drivers who were spies during WW2. Any direction would be appreciated...thanks!
