Taysha (taariya) I'm essentially looking for a horror following either(but not necessarily both) of 2 criteria:

1) Reminiscent of American Psycho or The Night Girl, I want to see the serial killer's side of the novel. I don't want a horror story about a potential victim running away from a killer, I want a story about a killer hunting down a potential victim (or randomly killing people, as long as he DOES brutally murder someone along the way), if that makes sense to you.

2) A stalker story similar to Prom Night (the awful 2008 remake of a 1980s movie [can't think of any novels which fit this theme, sorry]) in which an obsessed stalker kills people while trying to obtain his primary object of attention. Note that the stalker should be male and his victim should be female and the mood of the whole stalking thing should be "romantic" not revenge-y or anything like that.

It would be best if the victims in either scenario failed to escape the killer/stalker.

I know this is oddly specific, but I have something of a fetish for it.

Dave Pope | 53 comments I think that many of Richard Laymon's novels would fit the bill.
"Endless Night", "In the Dark" or "After Midnight" are a few that come to mind.
William Malmborg's "Text Message" would probably fit the bill.

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 964 comments Jack Kilborne and Blake Crouch have the book Serial Killers Uncut, or Desert Places, Traped, Afraid and a few others. I agree with David on Richard Laymon. Endless Night, After Midnight and Island are all top notch.

Jeff Mine from Robert McCammon is sort of a mix of both scenarios, but the killer is a woman.
