I didn't dare come here as I just removed J.K. Rowling from my short list for my stairs painting project.
To clarify I am going to paint my stairs as books and I needed 15 books. I had 18 so I had to decide which 3 I wouldn't use and sorry Lu but Harry Potter is one of the 3.

I'll just have to stay with Lauren then when I come to SA. :)
I have two stairs in my house and when I figure out how I can do it on the second stairs HP is definitely one of the books I am going to use!

I will post pics as soon as I have finished the project, but it might take me some time as I need a couple of days off in a row to complete the stairs. Normally when you paint stairs you paint one step and the next step you don't and the third step you do and then when every thing is dry you do it the other way around. This way you can still use it and since my bedroom is upstairs it would be preferable to do it that way. Trouble is that I take my cats to my bedroom every night. They see it as a punishment if I don't take them with me. And I haven't figured out a way yet to explain them how to avoid stepping on the wet steps.
So I need to sleep on the couch for a couple of days and I want to paint the stairs in one go.
The books I am planning to use are:
The Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind (actually a series but I am cheating here)
The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett
Kruistocht in Spijkerbroek by Thea Beckmann
De Ontdekking van de Hemel by Harry Mulish
Gone with the wind by Margaret Mitchell
The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe
Much ado about Nothing by William Shakespeare
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
Das Parfum by Patrick Suskind
Crime and Punishment by Fjodr Dostoyevski
The Agony and the Ecstasy by Irving Stone
The name of the Rose by Umberto Eco
Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley
The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde
Yes I am planning to paint it myself. Shouldn't be too hard. The only troublesome part is sanding before painting.

I would not attempt this. For me the only do-able part would be the sanding!
Funny how you have to factor in the cats :) Couldn't you carry them up to your bedroom in a cage or something and back down again in the morning?
No, Cicero doesn't travel well in a cage/basket. She gets all hysterical. And Bastet is hard to catch when you need to catch her. So that would be more trouble than just sleeping on the couch.
I hate doing sanding, but I have a machine that can do the flat parts so that should make it a bit easier but there are still some round parts. It is a very simple small staircase, hardly worthy of the name.
I am not very good at painting. Straight things I can do, but the lettering is going to be hard and in some cases I want to do a little detail, like a raven or perfume bottle or a sword. That will take some prep work like finding a good picture I can use and then transferring that to where I want it and painting it. That I can do.
Sorry for getting this discussion off track: J.K Rowling rules!!! :D

Perhaps you can find stencils for the letters or details?
I probably could some in DIY stores, but then it would get really expensive. I just have to find something on the internet that I can use. Doesn't have to be really elaborate just something easy to use. Just some different fonts and easy pictures.
I finished the first book again!
So here we go, some questions for everyone about the series:
1. Which book in the series is your fav?
2. Least fav?
3. Fav character?
4. Most hated character?
5. Fav scene from the whole series?
6. Fav movie? If you watched them.

4. toss up between Peter Pettigrew and Lucius Malfoy

6. The Deathly Hallows (but that might just be because I watched it again recently and I remember it better than the others)
These questions were harder to answer than I thought they would be :P
Heheh yea they look simple until you try to answer them :)
1. Deathly Hallows
2. Prisoner of Azkaban
3. Luna and Hermione
4. Umbridge
5. Hermione punching Draco or The Weasley Twins departure from Hogwarts

Hermione punching Draco - that was a good scene, I especially liked the live action replay they got with the time-turner :)
So true! Double the action :)
Also as this was JK Rowling month.
Has anyone read any of her other books? If so did you enjoy any of them?
