Eliene | 18 comments Rob wrote: "I finished reading The Black Lung Captain and really enjoyed it. (My Review)

I read The Black Lung Captain a few years ago and remember enjoying it a lot. I've been putting off the sequel for too long but I'm afraid I've forgotten too much!

Currently reading Archivist Wasp a dystopian-fantasy that's been getting some good reviews.

message 358: by Allison (new)

Allison Just finished Uprooted and am about to start The Beautiful Bureaucrat.

message 359: by MadProfessah (new)

MadProfessah (madprofesssah) | 775 comments Having an incredibly bittersweet time reading the last book in the Chronicles of the Unhewn Throne trilogy by Brian Staveley.

message 360: by Rob (new)

Rob (robzak) | 876 comments I finished A Darker Shade of Magic and liked, but didn't love it (My Review). I'll likely continue to the second book at some point.

message 361: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Osborne | 4 comments AT the recommendation of one of the authors at Norwescon, I am reading "The Lies of Locke Lamoure." and I am not impressed. Just another book about how some orphaned kid finds himself as an uber thief and pulls himself out of squalor by stealing from the rich. I have read it before and it is not really a fresh take on the theme.

message 365: by Julia (new)

Julia | 957 comments After reading 20% of Black Flags: The Rise of ISIS I put it aside. I've just got too many library and other books to read right now. I hope to get back to it. This weekend I read and finished Temple Grandin: How the Girl Who Loved Cows Embraced Autism and Changed the World, The Young Man and the Sea, and Chasing Lincoln's Killer.

I'm currently reading and really liking Shadowshaper by Daniel José Older.

message 367: by Monica (last edited Apr 11, 2016 11:01AM) (new)

Monica (monicae) | 511 comments Finishing up Surface Detail today (on Audible). My third Culture novel. I get the feeling I should have had a couple more under my belt before attempting it. It's amusing but I'm missing a few "inside" items I think might have helped my enjoyment. Probably will reread some day after I've read a few more Culture novels.

Just started Beauty Is a Wound which is an strange book, but strangely intriguing. Also reading Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang.

message 368: by YouKneeK (new)

YouKneeK | 1412 comments I just finished the second book in the Dagger and the Coin series by Daniel Abraham. I’m enjoying this series quite a bit, and I just started the third book this evening.

Here are my reviews for the first two:
Book 1
Book 2

How are you liking it? I got it as Kindle First pick last month and, as always with these Kindle free acquisitions, worry about whether it is any good or not.

message 371: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) I recently finished Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits by David Wong and thought it was fun. Now I'm reading A Darker Shade of Magic. It's still early but so far I'm liking it.

message 372: by Toni (new)

Toni (pinksquid) I have just started Ready Player One! I've heard good things about it so I'm looking forward to getting stuck into it! :)

I just finished the final book of that series. I really enjoyed it. Have you read his Long Price Quartet already?

message 380: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments I read the first. I loved the world building but the story was blah to me. However, I completely fell in love with the Black Sun's Daughter series that he wrote as M.L.N. Hanover.

message 381: by Rob (new)

Rob (robzak) | 876 comments For what it's worth, I liked Dagger & Coin better.

I haven't read Black Sun.

Sarah | 3915 comments Rob wrote: "I haven't read Black Sun."

I feel sorry for you. ;) I'm not even a fan of Urban Fantasy and I just got hugely addicted to that one.

message 383: by Rob (new)

Rob (robzak) | 876 comments Yeah, I generally dislike most Urban Fantasy. I do plan to try it eventually though.

message 384: by Ian (new)

Ian Hall | 13 comments I'm reading A crown for cold silver by Alex Marshall. I'm really enjoying it.

message 385: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (justiceofkalr) | 403 comments Reading Arkwright right now. About 2/3 and finding it kind of a slog.

message 386: by Bill (new)

Bill (kernos) | 426 comments I started Ballard's The Crystal World a SciFi, the last of his environmental catastrophe quartet. This one is more Sci-Fi than Cli-Fi.

message 387: by Sterling (new)

Sterling (sterlingf) | 79 comments I am reading The City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin. I got an ARC from Netgalley. This is the conclusion to the Passage trilogy and I am about 1/3 done with it. So far it is fantastic. I really love his writing style, he reminds me a lot of Stephen King, he is so discriptive and he gives so much back story to every character so you really feel like you know them and their motivations. This book will be out on May 24 2016. It is great so far.

message 388: by Tad (new)

Tad (tottman) | 159 comments I'm about halfway through The Heir of Night The Heir of Night (The Wall of Night, #1) by Helen Lowe by Helen Lowe and really enjoying it so far!

I also started Dirty Magic Dirty Magic (Prospero's War, #1) by Jaye Wells by Jaye Wells. This one is off to a good start too.

Aaron Nagy | 510 comments Poor Man's Fight

Top recommendation for the audiobook listening military space opera crew. It was a strong 4 as a book as a whole but despite the limited number of voices I loved the audiobook of it and gave it a 5. This book really surprised me and I have already jumped on the second book.

Chris ( librocubicularist ) King | 17 comments Cephrael's Hand by Melissa McPhail....picked up on a whim after seeing an add on Facebook, only 15% in but I'm already hooked.

message 394: by Beachesnbooks (new)

Beachesnbooks I'm currently reading Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire and Mr. Splitfoot by Samantha Hunt--I really like both of them so far. Next up I think will be Through the Woods by Emily Carroll

message 395: by Sterling (new)

Sterling (sterlingf) | 79 comments Nicki I would definitely recommend reading The Twelve if you have not read it. It is really good. It has been so long since I had read The Twelve I had to go back to it to refresh my memory of what took place before I started The City of Mirrors. I would really recommend refreshing your memory of The Passage as well. I am so glad The City of Mirrors is finally coming out. It really is great. I had forgotten how much I like Cronins writing style.

message 396: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments I get to enjoy myself with a nice creepy read next. Stallo, which was published under the unfortunate title The Shapeshifters in English. Stallo is so much more awesome and I think it actually means Troll but I'm not sure.

My review of book 3.
