S.J. Higgins | 173 comments You know how it goes, the start of a new year brings resolutions we all hope to keep but most don't last through the second week of January. This being said I resolved to ensure I could keep mine. Here's my list. What's on yours?

1) I resolve to spend countless hours using social media in order to procrastinate. (So far so good).
2) I resolve to stop checking my reviews like a crazy person.
3) I resolve to eat all the foods that are bad for me and stay clear of healthy gluten free products. (Big win here).
4) I resolve to read more indie authors (Easy).
5) I resolve to laugh more. (Maybe I'll finally get that six pack I've been working on. Ah, yeah right. See point 3).
6) I resolve to workout more (Flicking the pages of my Kindle counts, right?)
I'm sure I'll think of more to add to the list, but for now this'll do :)

-Read (and review) 1 book per week (for a total of 50+ books read in 2016)
-Write 1000 words per day of my own novels
-Knit 1 scarf per week to be donated to my parent’s church towards Christmas to be given away to those in need
-To be much more organized this year and use checklists and schedules to make sure I complete my other goals

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) I made sure I wouldn't break my resolutions by not making any. ;p

But I did pledge to read 75 books for the 2016 reading challenge. That counts, right?

I haven't done any resolutions, yet.

So, here goes.

A list of resolutions that will be easy to keep:

1) Continue experimenting with as many styles and genres as I can so when my readers love one book, they say, "um, okay... I couldn't get into this one..." on the next.

2) Consistatly keep enough caffeine in my system that I never lose that jittery feeling.

3) Refuse to learn to spell "consistant".

5) Refuse to use the number that comes between three and five.

5.5) Continue to claim that Twain, Vonnegut and Irving are my biggest influences and pretend that "Green Acres" is not.

F) Refuse to conform. Waitaminute... why am I doing this list, then? I'm out of here.

Sorry, wasn't trying to make anyone feel lazy...

Was just kidding. I think your list is great. :)

M. Ray Holloway Jr. (mrayhollowayjr) | 180 comments 1) I will publish my first novel in the next few weeks. I plan to do at least three more novels this year, and numerous short stories in between.
2) I will read AND REVIEW more Indie authors this year. I am enjoying doing that now.
3) I will definitely get that garden planted this year, and the cover for it to allow a longer period of production.
4) I will learn new recipes of breads, Mexican and Asian food, baked goods.
5) I will work my way back up to thirty minutes a day on the clothes rack... er, treadmill that is, to build my endurance back up.
6) I have already gotten to the point where I can write 1000 words per day, so I will see if I can push that to a higher level.
7) I will watch the remaining three seasons of Dr Who so that I can be current with the new shows that come out.
8) I will get back down to Houston in the first half of the year to reunite with my aunt and cousins whom I haven't seen in 35 years.
9) I will commit to writing one blog post per week this year.

My favorite quote from Dr Who is "Come on... Be extraordinary!"

I plan to be extraordinary this year...

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 2491 comments I'm not sure if these resolutions are for real or if we need to actually find resolutions we will break. So let's see.

Resolutions only an Earthquake of magnitude 9 could stop me.

1- Continue to read mainly indies.
2- Buy more indies physical books
3- Get through chemo and put cancer behind.
4- Continue to support Indies and especially this fabulous group of Indies.

Resolutions I'm not planning to break but will more likely do.

1- Keep my desk in order (Yeah right!)
2- Write a few words a day at least (Unless reviews and posts counts: Broken)
3- Try to make more time to write even if it means less reading (until my WiP is finished at least) (Already broken. Accepted Beta reading for a friend.)
4- Eat less sweets. (I plead the fifth, but I'm almost out of Coffee Crisp now so...)

Resolutions I am planning on breaking:

1- Read more trad pub this year than I did last year.
2- Every other resolution that means less time for Indies. :P

Owen O'Neill (owen_r_oneill) | 1509 comments I hereby resolve to never ever include in a book a battle that has taken longer to write than both world wars combined . . . and still isn't finished.

Keeping this resolution will be a lead-pipe cinch.

In 2000 I made a resolution to never make New year's resolutions again! I still haven't broken it.

Me too! I always break resolutions.

I'd love to write an epic battle! I'm not sure how to do it well!

Me either. Best wishes if you decide to take a shot at it someday.

G.G.: What Anthony said! We are all pulling for you.

Melissa Jensen (kdragon) | 469 comments Write my fantasy epiiiiic! this thing has been sitting on my brain since the early 2000s. It will be written, dang it.

Although technically it's not a New Years resolution since I started it last year. Still, it will be written, dang it.

You are a total star G.G!!! Ps: I love the part about breaking all the resolutions that mean less time for indies.

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 2491 comments Hey Chikamso, Indies are high in my priorities and yes, I intend to keep it that way no matter what. ;)
