Challenge: 50 Books discussion

I joined this group a few weeks ago because I love the idea of going for 50 in a year. But I realize though I'm off to a decent start, I'm not going to hit 50 in the calendar year 2009.

So, I'm starting my year (365) days today, July 21, 2009 to July 21, 2010. My first book is my current read, "The Heretics Daughter.:

OK, I was debating if I was going to try this, but I see someone else is starting mid-year so I will too. I've been reading a lot this summer so I'm going to start June 1 and go through June 1, 2010. I hope that's not cheating! But I want to do it because I've been reading a lot and I hope this will keep me motivated.

I just finished "My Life on a Plate" by India Knight and am about to start "Fool's Gold".

Diamond, I also started in August. I decided that 20 books between now and 12/31/09 was a reasonable goal. That way I can start fresh on 1/1/2010. Also lots of folks choose a different year, June to June, August to August, etc.

Ooh! I wish I found this when I first joined Goodreads at the beginning of the year! Ah well...I think I'll do what everyone else is doing and start in September, with a goal of 17 books (50 per year pro rata'ed and rounded up!) before New Year and start a fresh goal of 50 in 2010.

I also just noticed this group and am starting today. Still kinda aiming for 50 but I know that is impossible. I'm just hoping to get a good rhythm going so I can really enjoy the challenge next year.
