Buddy Read? Requests here!

I'll add it the schedule with links to the previous group read discussion :)
Here's a link for them too https://www.goodreads.com/group/comme...

We would love for you to join us in The Age of Innocence. I frequently bookmark links that I'm afraid I can't find later. The discussion for AoI is just above in Pink's post, or you can find it later in the first post of the Buddy Read Schedule thread where Pink keeps us informed. Glad to have you Kelly!

I'd also read it with you, Paula. But it's not on my list for 2017!! So, I'd be happy to re-arrange because I really do want to read it, and it would be nice to have some fellow readers that I can talk to during, to ask questions if I get bogged down. Maybe if I start in February I might be able to keep up with you, even if you start in March! You are really plowing through those BIG books!! Let me know what you and Nathan think :)

Wonderful! And good luck on choosing your favorite translation! :)

I'd like to read W&P in 2017, also. Realistically, a book of that size will take me 3-6 months. I would plan to start it no sooner than April and be done in August.
Anyone up for a slower-paced W&P?

I don't really want to nominate it for the Polls because it is actually quite difficult/expensive to get hold of, but if anyone out there is keen, I think this is one I'd like company with...?
:o)

I might try the pacing of your choice, even if I'd be impatient to finish the book. But the novelty of reading a book for 3-5 months has an appeal.

Oh, man! I'm marking that one down as TBR, but... not this next year. Some time on the other side of Ulysses and Infinite Jest, which I may or may not get to in 2017 or 2018. Sorry. But thank you for bringing it to my attention.

I might try this with you as long as you don't want to read it until spring or summer. I can get a library copy from somewhere in my state, so it shouldn't be a problem as long as I have a little notice to request it. I've never heard of it, but it definitely sounds very intriguing.

If we've read the book before as a group (which we have for P&P) then there will already be discussion threads for it and you can post your thoughts on that thread. If we haven't read as a group then we can make a new buddy read discussion thread for you.

Ahhh okay that makes sense! Thanks Pink!

I have already got loads of other books planned for 2017, so should be able to restrain myself on this for a few months... ;o)

Oh good. Remind me about this in a couple of months and we can plan our start time:-D

Cool, Luffy. I'll get in touch when I'm close. I love that taking more than 2 months on a book is a novelty for you- our lifestyles must be very different.

Wow, somebody else is interested in this book? It's been on my radar for a while, and I would jump at the chance to read it socially.
On the other hand, life is nuts. So I might not. I'm getting a copy. It will be on my shelf. Like, physically on my shelf next to the bust of a Westie. When you start Darconville's Cat, I promise to read a solid 20 pages of it. Who knows, I might even read the whole thing. Or maybe there will be chaos. Who knows? This book is big and weird, so either I will get into it like Gravity's Rainbow, or it will be a chore like The Master and Margarita. But I'll try, because I've been waiting for a reason to give it a shot.

Well spotted, you're right in your assumption.

I am planning to read Pride and Prejudice around that time too. :)

That's been on my TBR forever. And I recently got a really pretty copy at Costco.
When were you thinking of reading it?
(sorry haven't really been keeping up with this thread so I'm not sure current schedules)

Late March/early April would work for me!

I'd like to read that book with you.

I mostly came here to ask if anyone would be interested in buddy-reading Outlander with me and Amanda R. We're planning to start it in Jan 2017 and I'd prefer a discussion thread to private messaging back and forth. If this group can't accommodate it, I'll set up a discussion thread of my own.
Thanks!

so that (along with Laurie) makes 3 of us interested - that's already 2 more than I was expecting! looks like we have a snowball building here... ;o)

Awesome! I'd love to read it with you and compare thoughts :) (if that's how this thing works ;) ) If I understood Pink, there is already a discussion thread set up for the book!

Yeah its not typically mine either but it's got such hype and the book has been stalking me for years so I finally gave in when I was able to pick up the few couple of books in the series cheap. It has been good so far but other books have taken priority as they are group or buddy reads. Looking forward to carrying on reading it with a bit of background support :-)
