That's probably a bit too soon for me, I have voted for it in the August polls, but I don't think it will win.

superb book - I read it a little while ago, and would recommend anybody who has it sitting unread on their shelf to read it NOW!

I may join as well, depending on how the next week goes! If you're still reading at a lightening pace, I'll probably finish long after you... ;-)

Discussions here

Maybe, I do want to read them, but there are an awful lot and I'm bad at buddy reading at the moment. What timescale are you thinking of reading them?

I read it ages ago, back in school. And it has been ever since one of the most powerful things I ever read. It is beautifully written.
I would also recommend Cancer Ward, which is my absolute favourite.

That and The First Circle is on my to-read list. 1001-books group is starting a group read of Cancer Ward today.

Will do :)

Yes, I need buddy for War and Peace. In October I have no other buddy read committments, so Yes I will be brave and W&P.

If you're interested in reading a specific book, outside of the group reads, then here's the place to post and find a buddy!"
Hello Pink. Kt and I are wanting to buddy read
1. Nicholas Nickleby
2. Don Quixote
Kt and I will be reading all the books of Don Q, but of anyonenjust wants to read the usual first 2 books, please join the convo for that as well.
Question Pink: Is it okay with the group rulesm ways of doing things, that we have 2 buddy reads in the same month. We are thinking of reading NicholasN first before DonQ. This okay?
Thanks Pink for your help here.

Isn't there only 2? Both usually published together in one volume?

I didn't know Don Quixote had more than two books either?!
Here's a link for the previous group read discussions. https://www.goodreads.com/group/comme... They're broken up into parts 1 and 2, with a general non spoiler thread and discussions about translations as well. You can continue to use these threads for your buddy read.
Nicholas Nickleby hasn't been a group read before, so will need a discussion thread created when you're ready. You can do this yourself, or I can do it for you.
If you let me know what month you're planning on reading these two books I'll add them to the buddy read schedule. I'll wait and see if you have any other takers for War and Peace in October, but there's plenty of time yet :)

Is she referring to fan fiction?
I'm having a great time over here imagining what a third book might include. A time travel adventure with Ignatius Jacques Reilly from A Confederacy of Dunces? A gonzo journalism take on the Spanish prison system titled "Fear and Loathing in Debtor's Prison?" A Fahrenheit 451 dystopia where he has to battle the Firemen who want to burn his books? The possibilities are endless, and I haven't even got to my TNG holodeck ideas.

Actually, I remember someone nominating The Female Quixote, so perhaps that's what Cynda's referring to. If so, that sounds like a fun one to read.
Cynda, we're dying of curiosity over here!

Sorry not today. Though on another day perhaps...
Kt and I want to read Don Q by Cervantes and Nicholas Nickleby.

Thanks Pink. The old thread is good for Don Quixote. And yes, we will need a discussiion thread for Nicholas Nickleby Would you set that thread up for August? I am still learning basics.

Who knows? More will be revealed 👀

Perhaps your edition/translation just names them parts 1-5?

I just douuunt know. I am confused. Somewhere I was reading that it has 5 parts total, that most people just read 2parts, the hest parts. The other parts are not as good. My new-to-me cooy is part of a Harvard Series, I believe, and has have section of chapters. I am not at my apartment right now or I would check. I am housesitting until Tuesday afternoon.

September will be here in a just a few days. Who is in for A Vindication of the Rights of Woman?
Feeling a little September studiousness? My copy is full of footnotes and supporting essays, but the text itself isn't that long. Join us--it should be fun!
woo hoo! I will start reading on Friday. Studying for a certification exam for work - it's on Thursday. :( I hate worrying my pretty little head about such things.

I'm down for starting War and Peace in November! I don't think I'll be able to get to it until then.
