Okay Lilly. Maybe others will say something similar. I plan to enjoy the re-read. I just this year read Circe, a re-telling. So I have a part in Odyssey to savour.

Sorry about that! I'm like you, I need something to "make me" read it -- even though I want to read it, the length makes it a little daunting to me. I'm needing a little push ;)

i've read Bleak House and David Copperfield both, and I liked David Copperfield much better.

I liked David Copperfield and several others by Dickens. But now I feel like I need to have Bleak House under my belt, even if it turns out that I don't like it quite as well. I'll let you know what I think!

Harry Potter - all of 2019?
Lord of the Rings - Jan - Mar
The Odyssey - Feb
Bleak House - Maybe March? It could be tried in polls again!

Chess Story by Stefan Zweig has just come in second too many times. I plan to read it this month. It is short and will give me an Author Z for my A-Z challenge.

Eugene Onegin by Alexander Pushkin is another book that I will be reading in 2019. It makes the polls but has never won.

Anyone want to read that one with me? I would probably read it in March or there about.

I'm wanting to read more Russian writers this year including Tolstoy and Doestovsky. I'd be interested in a buddy read anytime after February. I've never read Brothers Karamozov and it's on my list too!

Katy, I have Eugene Onegin on my list for February. If March works better for most people I can change my schedule around, or I will just read in February and join the discussion, whichever works better for everyone else.

Maybe mid-February? Then Sam could join in March?

How about I make it my last February read? And the official discussion can be for March and we can all discuss??

Of course if this actually wins the March Poll, then I think we should disband the buddy read and read it with the group in March. But I am not holding my breath. So I'll wait until the last moment before posting the thread in February.

Someone please o please buddy read starship troopers with me. I was supposed to read it last year but didnt. I'm kinda hating Harry Potter like loathe entirely but I'm gonna stick it out and read the first even tho I cant stand it.

I will join a discussion if you start one. I first read Troopers in the early 1970s and a second time not long ago. There is also Forever War by Joe Haldeman, usually considered to be a more modern take on the same theme, with a much different slant, which I first read by the early 1980s and again a few years ago. I have no intention of reading either again anytime soon, but I think I remember enough to provide wortwhile input to a discussion. I most certainly recommend Forever War as a followup. Both novels are reasonably short, and easy to read as long as one is willing to tolerate the killing and maiming.

I just recently bought this on a kindle sale, in October. I want to read it ... there's just not likely any possibility for multiple months, at least :(

As I mentioned, I'm not certain my time will allow, but I am going to for sure! try to make time! I would be thrilled to read along with an experienced Odyssey reader, as Lilly said. :)

Inkspill mentioned an easy-to-follow translation in another thread, as a 'starter/intro' read. I'm going to look for that copy (once I remember what it is *grin*).

Marilyn and I and hopefully others will be reading The Caine Mutiny in June. We hope that others join in. Can you please add this to the schedule, thanks?

I will put the cane mutiny in my reading schedule for June and look forward to it.

The Caine Mutiny is in my plan to read this year. If my plan isn't completely derailed by June, I'll plan to join you.

I read it years ago. Around the time the Winds of War was on TV. We have a copy of WoW at home. I read it and then decided to see if the library had any more Wouk. They had Caine Mutiny, it was excellent.
