Oh, yay! I had this idea as well, though my comment probably got lost in the threads I posted them in. <3
I do not have the book yet, and I am not sure if I will be able to get it myself before the end of the month. If I don't, would you be willing to post yours internationally after you have finished?

:-)
This is an amazing idea/offer. It would be amazing if we found people near us (in case we're reading physical books) to do this kind of exchange - especially in case we aren't able to afford buying the book!

Love the conversations and helpfulness this group has had thus far! Excellent job, Emma! xo

Just an idea!
I would like to offer my book copy as well, as soon as I'm finished with it each month. If there are any takers, especially anyone in Germany, you're welcome to borrow the book from me and write notes in it - I would like it back eventually.

So either borrowing via kindle or shipping hard copies is a wonderful way to pay it forward,
I say this thread becomes a CALL AND ANSWER?
Those who have a book to ship or Kindle book to loan, call it out and those who need those books answer?
Can share information after via PM.
And on the other hand if you're registered with a participating library OverDrive is amazing. Literally like all the books ever are available for you to check out forever. You may have to wait for a book but it's so important to see how our libraries are supporting our communities and to utilize them. Also, obviously, an actual library might have the book!

On PBS there is a "mail to a friend" option where you can choose a person you are friends with and trade the book with them. Maybe we could somehow create another thread where people link their PBS profile so we can all be friends on there and trade with each other.
Not sure if that will help things or complicate things but I figured I would throw it out there.

1) The recipient may end up having to pay customs fees, even if the sender describes the book as a "Gift". In some cases, the import taxes e..."
As Dada brought it up, please be careful with the law. To those of you that talk about sharing a soft copy version (both sender and recipients) should be aware of copy right issues. If its a paid service like sharing from Kindle, then I don't think there'll be any issue. But if you upload (say to dropbox) and share the link, I'm not sure what are the implications.
Anyways, if there is a way for us all to read for free legally, I'll fully support it. Cheers!

Hey Paige, I'd love to have your copy if that's okay :)
Would you be willing to send it to Germany? I'll mail it back to you as soon as I've finished it.

Hello Jennifer!
I'm Roberta, and I'm in California. I would love to borrow yours after your finished! I JUST joined this book club, and I'm so excited to get started. I'm actually currently reading Bad Feminist, so I'll need to catch up with January's book ASAP! :)
Cheers!

Was just going to recommend Mass Mosaic. I think it'd be the answer to this - you can post 'have' notices which someone can reply to, or you can post 'want' notices which someone can fulfill.

It takes forever for a package to clear customs for me. I've had a few Amazon purchases sent back because it didn't pass either American or Canadian laws. I don't know for sure but all I know it sucks (took 2 months for a secret Santa package delivered from Texas). This is a great idea though if there are a lot of people near you. I haven't come across anyone from Southern/Southwestern Ontario other than Toronto and it's still a distance from me.
@Meaghan -- Regarding your troubles in finding people near to your location, have you tried to use a meetup thread to ask if there are any people within that geographical location? You do not have to use it or the folder just for asking for meet ups, you can simply ask your question about close-at-hand members and see things go from there. ^.^

Ah, your English is close enough to perfect ;)
Thank you for considering this, I've not long sent my copy to Savannah, can't wait for her to get it!
We do have an idea in the works beh..."
Aww ur to kind :) and if there is anything i can do plz let me know :)

I have finished my book and happy to send it out to anyone who wants to read it (US preferably).

I was about to start a similar post when I noticed this one to say that I am happy to buy an additional copy of Feb's book and have Amazon send it to someone in need of a copy.

You're so nice!
Why don't we start and make a book-chain. We decide whether we want to give our books away or let them live in our bookshelfs for the rest of our life. If we decide to give it away, we can give it to somebody and tell him to do as we did. Choose - and when chosen, send. Our books could enlighten hundreds of readers. And it would be environmentally-friendly. Two positive aspects:)

I think this is an absolutely wonderful idea and would be more than happy to mail my book to someone who wants to borrow it after I'm done. Feel free to message me and we can work something out :)
Also, like Pippa said, I would also be willing to buy an extra copy and send a copy as a gift to someone who can't afford it!
Happy reading :)
Sometimes I have these days where I look around and feel so meh. Then I see people doing RAOK (Random Acts of Kindness) here and there and I smile a little.
Hey, Kodak! Wouldn't it be nice if those strings that we're trying to pull made a nice sound? ;)
Hey, Kodak! Wouldn't it be nice if those strings that we're trying to pull made a nice sound? ;)

If anyone wants to go ahead and claim my copy to borrow after I'm finished then just let me know! :)
Or I could send one person a copy via Amazon as a gift and pay it forward :)
Feel free to contact me!
Happy Reading

Hi Sol,
If no one else has responded to you yet, I'd love to have your copy of the book. Just send me a message and let me know!

Hey Brynn, you are the first, but it seems your profile doesn't accept any messages?

Since we have a LOT of members in OSS, we really could change something... I will write posts about OSS on my book club, wanted to do it right from the beginning.
And Kodak, we all have wonderful ideas:)

Our books could be like the Traveling Pants. maybe write a note for the next person who reads in inside the cover before you mail it?

Tara, you are wonderful. That would make them only more special. Like, putting a post-it inside the book, on the first page and write something in it... what you liked about it or something else. Like the #PotterItForward challenge, where I wrote:
For the reader of Harry Potter:
You have to know that Harry Potter helped me to come to terms on many occasions. This amazing book shall teach you important things about life in the same ways it did to me.
Shall Hermione show you the advantages of books and cleverness, shall Ron show you qualities of a real friend and Harry to never give up.
They shall be your friends as much as they are mine.
#PotterItForward

Since I can't buy any books right now, I'd definitely love participating in something like this.

in what part of the world are you?
*I added you as a friend and because you are not far away from me I am willing to help!

I live in Pakistan and thank you so much!

You are so welcome

I have a copy of 'The Color Purple' in English, so if there is anyone who still needs a copy of the book and can't get one due to monetary reasons/lack of copies at their local library, I'd be more than happy to send you mine. Just message me your address and I'll send it out at the start of this week!
