"Read. But I've already read everything in my house at least twice and this stupid haven doesn't have a book store." Jade pouted.
"Um... a lot. Like, fifteen series's of three or more." Jade shrugged. "I like this one series called Fable Haven. It's one of the more unknown ones but it's cool."
"Um, Wings of Fire, Fable Haven, Harry Potter, Twilight, which sucked by the way, The Fault in our Stars, which also sucked because you aren't supposed to kill the main character's best friend, um.... Keeper of the Lost Cities, which was adorable and still has a few books coming out, an old series called Sherlock Holmes, Five Kingdoms... and I'm forgetting like five more but- OH! One was Goose Girl, but that's all I can remember right now."
"Ooooh! Lovely! This is the same author as Magnus Chase!" Jade grinned and opened the book and started reading.
Lyle, on the other hand, was running figure eights around the trees Arthur was jumping from and to.
Lyle barked and ran in past Freedom to Jade.
Jade patted Lyle's head distractedly, already ten chapters in.
Lyle cocked his head at Jade, then huffed and went back to Freedom and Arthur.

"Oh yeah. Every bit of food in the house is something Lyle could eat," Jade affirmed. "He's a pig so he'll go through everything, even if it's on a high shelf."
Lyle started eating immediately, scarfing it down.
"Slower," Jade told Lyle, to which he huffed, but ate slower. Jade beamed at the book. "This is already the greatest book ever. How many are there?" she asked Freedom.

"What is this magic that you use? I must learn the appearance of books magic!" Jade exclaimed.
Lyle scarfed down the rest of his food while Jade was distracted.

Lyle picked Arthur up and put him on his back, then went and flopped him into a small dog bed. He laid down in a bigger dog bed.
"They're awesome," Jade commented.

Jade kept reading. She was a ridiculously fast reader so she was already half way through the book.
"Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo." Jade buried her face in the book. "Annoyance."
((*cracks up because she said the laugh rather than just laughed*))
"That's wonderful. Tell me if you need any help finding it." Jade went back to reading.

((That's fabulous. *literally just switched out wonderful for fabulous*))
Jade laughed again. "Also don't punch yourself in the face."
Jade laughed again. "Also don't punch yourself in the face."
"Uuuugggggghhhhhhhhhhh. I wanna punch Carter right in the dorky little face of his," Jade complained.
"Yes! I am at that part!" Jade made a whiny noise and I tried her face in the book. "Uuuuuugggggghhhhhhh!"
((...well okay then))
Jade lead Misty to the path to her house and gestured to it. "Here it is. Home sweet home."

Jade's brow creased. "A healing creature that I'd taken in," she corrected, taking the now very much dead dove from Misty. She whistled and Lyle came pounding out of the house, dodging around Misty. Jade let Lyle carefully take the bird in his jaws and said, "Go bury it with the other failed patients."
The dog yipped softly and ran around the house. Jade looked at Misty. "Let's try and not kill the animals around my house. Most of them are here for a reason."

((She's mouse though??))
Jade heard Misty whimper/crying and frowned a little. Poor girl... She sighed. "Dinner's going to be chicken and corn. It'll be ready in about fifteen minutes. You know... if you want to come in."

((Okay...))
Jade continued prepping dinner, figuring it best to just let her be. She didn't speak, not really knowing what to say. She always took animals in to care for them, but not people. If she didn't think about it she could pretend Misty really was a mouse. But she wasn't...

Jade startled a little. "Uh... my mother did. But I forgot most of what she taught me so I kind of taught myself. It's chicken..."
