Yes, it is my favourite book. And Camus is my favourite writer, but I have so much still to read by him (correspondence, articles, essays, etc.)

Same here, Pedro. Many are on my TBR list, lol. Thanks to this group (and David Bowie), this list is decreasing.
Please let us know what you thought of TMAM (follow the thread "reviews"). :-)

Camus is also one of my favorite writers! My friends even mock me because of that. Whenever they know I am working on an essay or something, they ask me "Have you selected your Camus quote already?" hehehehehe I can't even begin to describe how his writing speaks to me!

I do not see why people would mock people about Camus. I often think about how he would have reacted at all the current craziness that's currently going on.

Samanta (almacubana) | 183 comments I think Camus was a genius. Let the people talk what they want :)

P. (shimizusan) I can't name the them all but about 17 on there I have read. I'm super excited (but not surprised) that he read Hubert Selby Jr and Angela Carter. Could I possibly love this guy any more than I do at the moment?

He was awesome.

Nigeyb I've read about half. And all of those are good. What impeccable taste he had, eh?

About half?! Wow...

Nigeyb ^ I should add that I'm in my 50s and so have had plenty of time on the planet to read. I didn't read them because they are in the list, they just happen to have been books that I've read (along with thousands more -I'm quite a voracious reader).

You have definitely something in common with David Bowie :-)
Voracious readers!

Nigeyb ^ Thanks Cynthia. I'd loved to have discussed books with him.

Samantha Coates | 8 comments I have been reading along with the club for a while now, but never quite finish in time to join in with discussions. I have been grateful for Bowie's top 100 list as I know it has made me read more widely than I previously have. I experienced all kinds of shock reading A Clockwork Orange, and felt devastation after completing The Great Gatsby. I have belatedly finished As I Lay Dying and I think the overall feeling for me was frustration, intermingled with revulsion. I think I was a bit shocked by the end as I keep discovering I am one of those people that expects a story to be wrapped up like a parcel, not left with so many parts unfinished. I hope to finish some of the novels in the future early enough to join in discussions in time.

It isn't easy indeed to keep up with the pace but you are free to discuss any book at any time in the threads provided for each book :-)
Thanks to Bowie, we're reading more but surely better :-) I wouldn't have read The Great Gatsby at all in my lifetime (what, a rich man and the jazz age? Meh) and it would have been one unforgivable mistake. I felt the same, devastated. How can a book trigger such powerful emotions? I have no words.

Kim Eland | 1 comments Hi
Is anybody still reading form the Bowie list?
Especially are there anybody from Denmark?
I have read 35 of the books by now and have collected around 60 of them. My plan is to get all and read them.

message 67: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 1 comments I'm still going, although not in Denmark. Some titles are hard to find. Good luck with your quest.

message 68: by Michael (new)

Michael | 1 comments I've read 36 of the more reader friendly books on the list and will probably do one or two more this year. I'm taking my time with it and there a few I probably won't bother with. I keep them together in my bookcase.
