What flavour would such a cake be? Or isn't it meant to be eaten and enjoyed?

In Mexico growing up we would receive sugar skulls with our names on them for All Souls Day (Día de Muertos) - I always ate mine.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Licquorice and vanilla?

message 307: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments blackcurrent and white chocolate?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Jim wrote: "blackcurrent and white chocolate?"

YUM!!!

Jim | 21809 comments the importance of getting home under your own steam https://tallissteelyard.wordpress.com...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I wonder what happened in that house next morning...

message 314: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Tallis was too busy trying to sort out two large cats and a chariot

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments The cats looked very bored by the whole thing.

message 316: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments that is entirely possible. Dogs on the other hand would have joined in with the spirit of the occasion

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Jim wrote: "Tallis was too busy trying to sort out two large cats and a chariot"

Im trying to read while I wipe the sleep from my eyes, and I saw that as two large cats and a clarinet!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Ah... Peter and the Wolf. Childhood memories...

message 320: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments absolutely,

message 321: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments every been to an auction?

https://tallissteelyard.wordpress.com...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Its usually not even marginally that exciting!

message 323: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments obviously you go to the wrong sort of auction :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments One where Tallis Steelyard is not involved?

message 325: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Gingerlily - Mistress Lantern wrote: "One where Tallis Steelyard is not involved?"

they do need a good auctioneer and somebody to create a bit of a buzz

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Changing the subject slightly, I just read this, and for some reason it reminded me of you.

Tallis created enough buzz to populate a large number of hives! He could solve the bee crisis on his own.

message 328: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Tallis sowed the seeds of dreams and allowed the garden to flourish.

a true yorkshireman wouldn't have bought a new coat!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Ah, but Michael is such an international traveller, that some of the yorkshire corners have been knocked off.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I've never been to an auction

you need an angle-grinder to do that

I wonder how many people have. Obviously I've bought and sold cattle and bought land at auction, and I've been to various other sorts as well, tools, vehicles etc

message 334: by David (new)

David Hadley I've been to one auction, when daughter No. 2's Girl Guide coven - or whatever it's called - were raising money for a trip to Japan.

You are scared to make any movement in case it is interpreted as a bid.

I used to cause the guides the 'paramilitaries' given that all the female members of my family were involved :-)

The trick with auctions is that you have to catch the auctioneers eye, that's really why you've waving your hand about. Once you've caught his eye then a slight nod is a bid, a slight shake of the head means you're dropping out.
But if you don't catch his eye you can do handstands or anything, you might be kicked out as a nuisance but you'll not end up buying by accident ;-)

message 336: by David (new)

David Hadley I suppose the easiest thing would be to show the auctioneer my empty wallet right at the start to avoid any misunderstanding.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments But those moths may be a protected species!

message 338: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments absolutely, I regularly get the moths valued, just on the off chance

message 339: by David (new)

David Hadley They are perfectly safe - no-one is going to disturb them.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Jim wrote: "absolutely, I regularly get the moths valued, just on the off chance"

I am sure they are happy to know that they are valued...

message 341: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments absolutely, they've been empowered

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments careful, if you give them too much power they will be taking over the world. Its a fine line...

message 343: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments anyway, Tallis deal's with another, more current problem

https://tallissteelyard.wordpress.com...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I never understood why anyone could find a clown scary. Sad and pathetic maybe, but not scary.

message 345: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments I think a lot of people have put a lot of time and effort into trying to make them scary
look at the Joker

But traditional clown makeup combined a painted on smile with painted on tears

Just watching this, they were an early boyband! The concept has been refined slightly since then though.

message 347: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments I remember the track

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Tallis seems to be more real than you at this point. And there are numerous stories about how that situation can go wrong!

message 350: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments I have to admit that I have been known to let Tallis do the selling for me at conventions ;-)
