* If your topic in is the wrong folder, you can move it youself. Click edit (found next to the title of the topic). There is a dropdown menu entitled folder. You simply choose which folder to move the topic to and click save.
* If you've created a duplicate topic, it's best to delete it to make sure the group stays clutterfree. To do that you click edit (found next to the title of the topic). Underneath the 'save' button you'll find 'delete this topic'. Click that and the topic will be deleted.
As mentioned, this is a large group and getting larger all the time. To make it easier for all of us, please don't create duplicate topics.
I am not too sure how often this information will be used in this group, but I thought I would post it here anyway. It is a brief guide to using HTMl within your posts. It is basically just a quick rundown of all you need to know.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
To use the HTML, you remove ONLY the periods in the below examples. Keep all other symbols.
bold: <.b>text<./b>
italic: <.i>text<./i>
underline: <.u>text<./u>strike through:<.s>text<./s>
slight movement: (again, erase ONLY the periods!) &nbs.p;&nbs.p;&nbs.p;TEXT
—mdash: (again, erase ONLY the periods!) &.mdash;TEXTexact spacing:<.pre>text<./pre>blockquote:
<.blockquote>text<./blockquote>paragraph:
<.p>text<./p>
(view spoiler) <.spoiler>text<./spoiler>
link: <.a href="link to website">put the words you want to appear here!<./a>
(view spoiler) : <.img src="put URL/image location link here".>

*If you've created a post yourself, you can EDIT or DELETE it. These options are found in the bottom right corner of the post.
*If you want to reply to someone's post, there is a REPLY option - it's in the bottom right corner of the post.
*If you think a comment is inappropriate, hostile, spam etc. you can FLAG it. This option is right next to the reply-button. If you do this, you'll be asked why you've flagged it, and Goodreads will then review the comment later to see if any action needs to be taken.
*When you mention a book, you can create a link to the book's or author's Goodreads page. Above the comment box, you'll see a link 'add book/author'.
Click this and a pop-up will appear called add a reference
You can choose to add either a book or an author. You simply type in the author name/book title and click search. Then you select the book you want and click 'add'.
A link will appear in the text which looks like this
[ book : The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat | 17978443 ]
When you click post, it will automatically change into a link.
NOTIFICATIONS
* If you want - or don't want - to be notified when new messages are added to a thread, you can change the notification settings.
* If you are not following a thread, then you will find a link underneath the last messag on the page. It reads 'Notify me when people comment'. Click on this and you can choose whether to be notified via email or notification on Goodreads.
* If you are following a thread, the underneath the last message on the page, it will read 'You are following this discussion'.
To the right of this, it says edit. If you click edit, you can either change how you are notified or switch off notifications.

To find out more about another member, you can simply click on their name above one of their comments. This will take you to their profile page. Here you have a number of options:
* You can ADD THEM AS A FRIEND. This button is right underneath their personal information.
* You can FOLLOW THEIR REVIEWS - then you get a message from Goodreads every time they post a review of a book.
*And you can SEND THEM A MESSAGE - you'll find this right next to the 'follow reviews' button. Others won't be able to see these messages.
*If you want to see what their taste in books is like, you can also COMPARE BOOKS. Goodreads will then compare your bookshelf to their's and see if you have any books in common.
Some people on Goodreads have a private profile. In this case, you won't be able to see any information, but you'll still be able to add them as a friend or send them a message
Now, if a person on Goodreads is bothering you or you're simply tired of reading their comments, you can BLOCK them. This means that the person won't be able to contact you, and if they write posts on the discussion boards, they will be hidden from you and you'll have to press a link if you want to read them.
To do this, you go to the bottom of their profile page. In the left corner is a light-grey link 'block this member(?)' which you can click.
You can of course always unblock a member if you regret it.
I'm sure this will be helpful to those new on GoodReads! :)

Hi, just passing by and telling you that I often use the app (latest version and versions before), iOS and you couldn't edit or reply to posts, what makes it sometimes very hard to use. :/
Like you said, you can still go on safari and use the dekstop version of the site!
<3

Serious? So earlier versions you could still edit/reply on posts?
Sorry, didn't know that; only know that I can't do it on this version :}

Thank you,

Morning, Laura and Angel! Stay tuned for info on Feb's book very soon. You don't have to do anything in particular, there will be an announcement and I am guessing it'll be pinned so that it's easy to see by everybody. :) All major announcements, and there will probably be a few of them, will be done in this fashion. :D
This is amazing as Goodreads is a fantastic site, but it can also make everything a little confusing.
So I thought that I'd make a quick "Introduction to Goodreads" for those who are finding it a little confusing :)
So here goes :)
