In today's terms, she'd be an accessory after the fact, at the least. I think she and her son should have been put under house arrest, at the least. I wonder if future books will give us more of this story.BUT PLEASE, no spoilers.
No spoilers, I promise. Amanda is the epitome of the self-interested aristocratic wife who is more concerned about her social standing and personal wishes than right and wrong.
What does she care that some prostitutes were murdered and mutilated by her husband. As long as he keeps her in the life to which she is accustomed and doesn't bring any scandal down on her head, he can do what he wants.

Given the way they covered up her husband's involvement, nothing could be done. Charlene, if they did the same thing today, she'd walk away, too, since he wouldn't have been charged.
The way to hurt this viper? Make her a public pariah and I feel it in my bones that her day of reckoning will occur (haven't read beyond this book but hope springs eternal).
Ditto all of you! I do hope she gets her just desserts. If I were she, I'd be worried that my husband had contracted the "French disease," but now I can't remember whether they continued to share the marriage bed.

Now Amanda is one character I certainly did not like....Agree completely with your assessment Lauren and I too hope she gets her just desserts.
I cannot wait to find out which book might give us a picture of her downfall, but I have not read this series before, so I don't know if or when that will happen.
I did not ike Amanda, she covered up a lot. She deserves to get her just desserts!
I agree with everyone about Amanda. She is a mean, heartless woman. She is the character I loved to hate. In fact, I dislike her more than her husband.
